They were so close to completing it but then lost their nerve and abandoned it to find their families. Great escape room. Handcuffed together was hard but the room was well thought out and clues were hard to get. The puzzles were fun and challenging, the different types of interactions are great and there is a variety of different tasks which made it even better. It’s taken a while for the word to get around about EO Escape Rooms, but they seem to be increasingly on enthusiasts’ radar. All of their games get excellent scores, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of them on next year’s list. Escapable: Outatime (Wakefield)

Sadly I felt a little let down by this room and I can't put my finger on why. It could have been that the final stage tech wasn't as smooth as the rest or maybe just that our expectations were too high after enjoying their other rooms. A London legend, Escape In Time have now opened their second game but the spooky original remains a firm favourite for many. I played it many years ago but the [redacted] surprise and the [redacted] remain warmly remembered highlights. Escape Kent Faversham: Wild West Saloon (Faversham)

Every year sees dozens of Christmas pop-up games, but it’s quite an achievement for one of them to make the top hundred list. Both that and established favourite Operation Moonshine share a profusion of puzzles, enthusiast-friendly design that makes sure experienced teams get a full hour of play, and exceptionally friendly hosting. The Panic Room Gravesend: Loop (Gravesend) We recently did Crimson Lake Motel and we both agreed that this is probably the best one we've done yet (just missed out on escaping by 2 clues!). The theming was spot on and the puzzles were super fun! Massive shout out to our games master too! Trapped in… the Forbidden Room of Fun! by Trapped In Fiction, a playful game with an unusual premise.

Wirral Escape Rooms: The Curse of the Golden Lion (Wirral) The trails themselves require very little puzzle-solving and a bit more of a challenge would be very welcome but the object here is to immerse yourself in this steam punk world and go on a few adventures along the way. It's a totally unique experience.A good dinosaur game is hard to resist, and by all accounts this is a great dinosaur game – with the clever idea of being set on a bus. Make Your Escape: Spellbound (Derby) Weird, wonderful, exhausting, entertaining, daft and downright ridiculous, Phantom Peak is an immersive experience not to be missed.
