it may seem similar to Détour, but smelling side by side (right and left hand), the difference is clear. The original Amber Oud fragrance in the collection, this is where the love affair began with Al Haramain Amb... I'm glad I bought 3 because they smell 95% I would say the opening of Layton is much better and much smoother/well rounded. But after a few minutes they smell exactly the same. I'm not afraid of over spraying because it is cheap and nice smelling. Sadly I'm only able to wear this during cold/winter season. The opening of this frag is more synthetic than my laugh when a girl that I like makes the most horrible joke ever recorded in human history

You're having a good time at an upmarket wedding. The drink has been flowing and your eating the marzipan icing off the cake. I have this one for a while now and just got Layton and guess what… I tried them side by side and I hoped that Layton would give me the better quality but it is exactly the same. From opening to far dry down. Even the performance is the same and that is 4 to 5 hours on my skin. This stuff just smells like Play-Doh to me. Nothing else. No beautiful apple and vanilla that others are talking about. Just Play-Doh. Maybe my nose is broken and I'll have a delicious warm apple pie scent bubble. But to me, this is just huffing the inside of an old Play-Doh container. Darn shame.

You wouldn't know it if its not a deep sniff and if it's not tested side by side. Performance too almost identical. I used it in a/c office environment, fyi. Detour Noir all the way after this, sorry PdM. The hype is real. Smells almost 1 for 1 like Layton, but actually lasts longer some how (Layton is already beast mode for me).

This is a fantastic fragrance, especially for the price. I have never smelled Layton but if what everyone is saying is true, there’s no need to buy a bottle of Layton— this is all you need! Definitely a colder weather fragrance but there’s some flexibility here. High summer heat would bring some unwanted qualities of the notes, but you could pull this off on a cool summer evening. This also transforms on/off my skin wonderfully. I believe the vanilla lasts well into the dry down and the cardamom is a wonderful combination. All the notes work in harmony and you can detect most of them along the way. It feels cozy with just enough projection. Definitely worth every cent— I blind bought this. I think the tea and violet come through in a very mild way. A similar smell as Armaf Craze opening , if you are familiar with it, but milder.
