About this deal

We have put together a range of kits to give you everything you would need to make your desired cheese. We recommend the Standing Stone Farms Ultimate Cheese Making Kit or its versatility and ease of use, though the Urban Cheesecraft Mini Cheese Kit is amazing for those on a budget. For vegan cheese, you can’t beat The Big Vegan Cheese Making Kit. What to Look for in Cheesemaking Kits What’s Included The whey is the leftover liquid from milk (which is 80 to 90 percent water), minus the fat and protein that went into the cheese. Whey also contains minerals, protein, and lactose. Can you reuse a cheesemaking kit? I already have the Lakeland cheese making kit and needed extra items so decided to get this as it worked out about the same overall and I would have an extra press. The recipes and instructions I found much better than the Lakeland one. The humidity gauge is very useful. The thermometer in the Lakeland kit is better as it readily clips to the side of the pan and can reach right into the milk so I prefer that. I find the Lakeland press is far superior and easier to use. Also I had to drill more holes into the mould to let it drain more freely as does the Lakeland one. Overall though a good kit and I would recommend it. Mad Millie Cheese Kits are a great first step into the wonderful world of cheese making! Our kits are designed for all levels of ability, whether you are a beginner just getting started or more experienced and ready to upgrade to gorgonzola or Havarti.

I bought this kit as a home experiment. We had the soft cheese kit already and had sadly never used it. Our first cheese was produced on the weekend it arrived. The instructions were absolutely spot on. The cheese is now wrapped in larded cheese cloth. A sneaky slice was taken and the results were very satisfying. I found this kit coming to Moorlands for extra cheese making supplies, after buying the Lakeland version. Wish I had seen this one first. My daughter now plays with the Lakeland kit in her Fisher Price kitchen and I have splashed out on a replacement.I bought this kit a few years ago and its still going strong. Absolutely love it. The instructions are clear and everything was there that I needed to get going. I love it when someone asks "what kind of cheese is this?" and I can tell them its my very own. As the name suggests, its aimed at cheese enthusiasts who get excited by hard cheese in particular. Therefore, instead of any soft cheese moulds the kit contains a hard mould, with follower. The follower sits on top of the curds, during pressing, applying a steady pressure. Zotta T, Solieri L, Iacumin L, Picozzi C, Gullo M. Valorization of cheese whey using microbial fermentations. Moorlands cheese making kits include products made from food standard, durable materials, which looked after, will last a lifetime.

Was given this kit for Christmas, and have done my absolute best to try and set aside a day each month to make a hard cheese (mostly the cheddar in the recipe book) and a selection of soft cheeses to tie me over. The result… I am now eating the cheddar I made three months ago = delicious! with a succession to follow so I never run out again. Friends and family love it! Thank you Moorlands for such a clear and concise kit and instructions book, definately have the cheese making bug! Would definately recommend as the perfect gift for someone like me who loves their cheese. Thanks again, Jake They’re proud to say Moorlands is still family-run from our home setting. Like you, they care about food and its origins. Even professional cheesemakers do things a little differently from each other, so it makes sense that each cheese kit will be a little different, too. For instance, some include tablet rennet (which needs to be crushed and diluted in liquid before using), while others include liquid rennet (which is easier to use, but can be inconsistent and has a much shorter shelf life). A slight cheat is to use a temperature controlled water bath for heating the milk and creating the curds. You may need to look online for sous vide cheese making ideas. This take out the guess work in getting the milk to 32c and then upwards for the finishing of the curds.
