About this deal

Some people read cookbooks for fun, I read skin care and herb books for fun. So this one is a perfect match for me. As herbalists, we’ve come to understand how important herbs are to our wellbeing — from the plants we ingest inside our bodies to the ones we use topically on the outside. We’ve also come to understand that natural, unadulterated skin care products can build and maintain optimal skin wellness from youth to old age. They also have this amazing recipe book to accompany the course or to buy separately. It’s filled with great DIY’s, ranging from Bath Salts to Cosmetics. The Herbal Academy #gifted these to me which I’m so grateful for because it was one of my big wishes to learn more and to do this course! So far I’ve been enjoying every single bit of it and can only recommend it!”

Google translation: Hello Tanya! Thank you so much for your super tips and recipes. A question about the shampoo bar. Would it be possible to correct the pH, i.e. lower it to the lowest levels closest to the natural pH of the skin? Grind dried flowers in a mortar and pestle or break them up in your clean hands to produce smaller pieces. Fill a dry, sterilized glass jar half full with dried flowers. The book contains recipes for lotions, creams, body butters, balms, salves, scrubs, soaps, serums, toner, bath bombs, and more. If you're interested in more recipes like this, you’ll love our Botanical Skin Care Recipe Book . It includes 194 tried-and-tested body care recipes that are all herbalist-approved! This recipe collection covers lotions and creams, salves, balms, hair care products, bath bombs, cleansers, masks, serums, and more!Shampoo bars are a solid cleanser that we lather and use to clean our hair. However, the popular shampoo bars that most people have experience with are not real soap. They’re called syndet bars and they are formulated to clean our hair in the same way as liquid shampoo. That means that they’re pH balanced to better match our bodies’ pH. Whether a skincare product is acidic or alkaline matters because if it’s even a little bit off it can disrupt our skin’s acid mantle. What that can mean is irritation and damage to our skin, scalp, and hair. Make the vanilla-infused jojoba oil using the instructions in the herb-infused oil tutorial (found in the Botanical Skin Care Course) using ¼ vanilla bean and ¼ cup jojoba oil. Note that ¼ cup is the amount of finished herbal oil to include in the recipe—you may need to start with more oil when making the herb-infused oil, as the herbs will soak up some of the oil (if you forget to do this, just top off with some plain oil as needed for this recipe). I loved learning about the basic energetic categories of Western herbalism—hot, cold, damp, and dry—to provide a more nuanced view of skin health. It was highly enlightening as were the sections on Ayurveda skin care and skin care in Chinese medicine. One of the more important lessons, however, covered the commercial ingredients we should be avoiding and why they are harmful. I was most surprised to learn that retinol, which is practically a staple in anti-aging skin care products, should be avoided due to its numerous negative side effects. Real soap has a pH of between 9-11 and is much more alkaline than our skin and hair’s pH of 5-6. That’s why some people find soap controversial on skin. My feeling is that our pores constantly secrete oil, human sebum, and it replenishes the acid mantle of our skin. Still, overuse of soap isn’t great as many of us have found on our hands over the past year!
