I love it on clothes, while I am wearing the eau the Parfum on skin. One spray on my coat on February, I still get whiffs of the scent whenever I open the closet... With this "Rouge 540", I learned how a name that would fit very well with a model of any Ferrari car, plus the extra load given by the title "Extrait", raises the expectations of any perfume. After so many comments from my "perfume friends", I decided to give it a go with a test. Smells like bandaids and whale vomit. Dry's down to that pasty layer of scunch from the bottom of a downtown dumpster.

My recommendation is to test and see how many sprays work for you. Overspraying this might cause anosmia faster, and it's a shame since I, too, want to enjoy the smell, not just the ones around me. I would have wished NOT to love this scent, but well... Creamier than the original; sugar balanced with almond and saffron. I spotted a herbal note in the very beginning, which made me panic as I don't enjoy such notes, but it faded away immediately. The scent is so popular. There must be at least 3 different women wearing at my gym every day which leads me to believe they're wearing clone versions. It is a scent of the the post apocalyptic future that many of us already live in, a heart of a big conglomerate like London or New York. It encapsulates the feel, the aspiration and the belly of the beast. It tries to warm you up and give you some comfort with a bit of fancy pastry but you are still standing in the doorway of some big, multi-storey, closed-system-air-conditioned building. You end up on the top floor, open the window and get hit by the heat and a brown noise of the streets below. And then you see him. A a dying, beautiful android that has seen unbelievable things and lived hundreds of lives. Its batteries are overheating, he is reaching the end of his life. Tears lost in the rain. The flying dove. You can smell it all.

I imagine people stopping whoever is wearing it to ask what you're wearing in an event because of how unique it is. The saffron note in the opening notes is my absolute favorite! We only use vegan friendly fragrance oils, and of course they are cruelty free! We wouldn't have it any other way. I've since changed my mind on this and prefer the Extrait again. I've gone off the edp quite a bit and find it quite boring compared to other perfumes I've got since. I do find it makes a great base for other perfumes though and nearly always use one of the dupes of it before my scent of the day. I don't reach for the Extrait much either but I do prefer it now and it might get worn more in the colder months. Oh, and Burberry Her in comparison? Nope, my sister wears that one and Cloud as well, and I can tell them apart when I smell her. Burberry Her is a lot fruitier than both BR540 and Cloud. Still similar, but not as much as the other two.

This scent doesnt give away everything, of what it is about. And it will never do that. Its still an enigma to my nose in a way. The difficulty to pin point whats going on in the sensory experience. I got bad news, the clones cannot compete with this. The edp possibly, maybe, but the Extrait not a chance. The Extrait is one of the best smelling fragrances I have the pleasure of wearing and owning. Wild and sublime scents clash in nature - only a masterful perfumer can truly bring these chaotic elixirs together, and their expertise has been sharpened over centuries.The bitter almond opening is so great and it settles in a beautiful musky but still ambery, delicious smell. I was totally dazzled by this when I first smelled it. It smelled like cotton candy in a pine forest and the bitter almond was an amazing counterpoint to the sweetness. It lasted forever and it was so delicious. I loved it and I loved some of it's smell alikes too. Deep into the dry down (6-8hrs) both EDP and extrait leave the same impression on the skin and project the same I have the Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum (The 200 ml bottle). Huge disappointment, the scent is excellent 10/10 but projection is a joke, not even 1 hour of projection, the longevity is around 6 hours, but nobody around you can smell anything!

The extrait has better longevity. The ambergris note in the dry down is stronger in the extrait. I’m not a big fan of ambergris. So both will be a pass for me. But after I used soap and water to wash them off, I could still smell both of them on my arms. I then washed my wrists for the second time and sprayed another different perfume on my wrists. Even after the new perfume completed faded, I could still smell 540, especially the extrait. It’s crazily strong. The EDP was also noticeable, but not as strong as the extrait.Your friend invites you to come with him to meet the host. You and your friend walk up to the man. He introduces you to the host. You move in closer to shake his hand. So much hype around this fragrance that I was ready to be disappointed but it turns out that I am unoriginal - and I'm totally okay with it. I love this.
