Building upon the best-selling Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener™ – The Precision Adjust ELITE™ is an angle adjustable, seven abrasive grit, knife sharpening system that delivers precision and repeatability for the discerning edge enthusiast who wants the best in manual sharpening. The Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener has a smart, practical design. It starts with a plastic platform you can set on a workbench, table, or desk. On that sits an 8-inch-tall tower that houses a screw system to raise and lower the point at which the sharpening rod attaches to the tower. It's also worth noting that not all serrated knives can be sharpened with the Work Sharp Precision Adjust Sharpener. The sharpener is designed for blades with serrations with uniform width and spacing. If your serrated knife has irregular serrations or teeth of different sizes, it may not be suitable for sharpening with this type of sharpener. Are Work Sharp products made in the USA? However, the Work Sharp system keeps the price down by using lighter materials and plastics, compared with more expensive, professional alternatives. Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener: How It Works I worked my way through the various grits, and was impressed with how easily the plates swapped out, and how securely the magnets held them in place during use. Finally, I used the leather strop plate, being careful to only slide in the direction of the edge. For those wanting full control of the sharpening experience, the Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener™ is an angle adjustable, three abrasive grit, knife sharpening system that delivers precision and repeatability by controlling both the edge angle and the blade in unison. In fall 2020, Work Sharp jumped into the precision sharpening game with a system that will look somewhat familiar to anyone that’s watched the knife market for a while. Meet the Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener. For stropping and sharpening serrations, you perform the same steps as sharpening the blade but only in a downward motion. This makes sense as you wouldn’t want to cut into the leather strop. I find it really impressive that Work Sharp thought to include a strop. As a big believer in stropping your knives regularly, I’m a fan of this feature. What’s not to like about the Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite? The hone itself has three sides: a 320-grit, 600-grit, and a fine ceramic stone. Simply use a little force and turn the stone to the appropriate sharpening grit. Having used Work Sharp’s Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener (PAKS) for the last year and sharpened around 50 knives with it, I was blown away by the PPAKS the minute I took it out of the box and set it up.

Work Sharp has a new sharpening system as you probably noticed today (May 1, 2023) if you are at all plugged into the Knife Industry YouTube/Blog/Podcast scene. They sent the new units to members of the online knife community last month, but the press embargo (silent period) expired today. I did cover it in my Knife News column in the June issue which just went to press last week, and won’t be arriving in mailboxes until closer to June. I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of owners of the original Precision Adjust love the system, but wish it came with more abrasive options. While the 320, 600, and ceramic grits were adequate in making your knives hair-shaving sharp, I was never happy with the look of my bevels. Show me the Abrasives! Cons: The Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite is a complete sharpening system, which puts it at a higher price point than the base model version. The PPAKS is both easy to set up and easy to use. Included with this model is a rubberized work mat that serves both as a clean work surface and a reference guide. It breaks out all the parts of the PPAKS as well as an explanation of grind angles, recommended angles based on knife types, blade anatomy, and which sharpening plates to use based on the condition of the knife edge you’re working on. As both a knifemaker and a knife tester, I’ve had the opportunity to use a lot of different knife sharpeners. The PPAKS is the best tabletop knife sharpening system Works Sharp has come out with to date. Taking that one step further, it might be the best tabletop sharper on the market overall. I’ve been particularly nasty to my Sniper Bladeworks MAMU. I most recently used it to dig up a blueberry bush in the woods in the rain. After a few swipes with the strops and less than five minutes of work, I was able to return the edge to its original, intimidating, factory-whetted edge. While the Work Sharp does a few things well, it’s not a perfect product. Let’s take a look at where it doesn’t quite hit the mark. The Work Sharp® Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener™ is an angle guided, 3-sided abrasive jig-and-clamp style sharpener that makes manual sharpening faster, easier and more precise than ever.
