When Liz was little, she loved to draw, paint and make things. Her mum used to say she was very good at making a mess (which is still true today!). She kept drawing and went to art school, where she earned a degree in graphic design. She worked as a designer and art director in the music industry, and her freelance work has appea More Tom gets into running for school council in this book however when he spots school bully Buster doing graffiti, Tom tells his best mate Derek via drawing and soon things get out of hand as people find out and spread it round. Top Of The Class (Nearly) is the ninth Tom Gates book and is a delightful read for younger children. I have never read a Tom Gates book before, but I dived headfirst into book 9, incredibly impressed by the fantastic layout of this book. It’s filled with tons of different fonts and different font sizes, there’s drawings of the characters in various situations and it feels like it’s interactive (even though it isn’t). It’s fully immersive and that’s incredible. Bu T on the other side of me, the good news is I am now sitting next to , w h o i s very smart and nice (even though she didn’t seem thrilled to see me this morning). BriLLIANT At least I can have a sneaky look over her shoulder for a few right answers. I think she is looking at me now. is ve ry nice. 10

My favourite part was when a bully called Buster Jones drew on the teachers pictures and made them look goofy (one was a pirate). My favourite character is Buster because he is always up to mischief or in trouble. So, in this story Tom tried to be a school council and id a very cool design to make people vote for him. He said ,"Monday will be Funday, Tuesday will be you chose day (wear what you want), Wednesday is pen day (doodles and drawings), Thursday is furs day (when you bring in your animals) and Friday will be surprise day (such as extra pudding or much more bigger portions to eat at lunch). And guess what Tom got voted as school council and achieved top marks in his test. It was quite late by the time we got home and there was music out from our house. FuMom and Dad were RIOUS. Delia had invited lots of her friends Iover for a party, and BOY was she in trouble. forgot all about my sore arm because listening to Delia being told off and grounded by Mom and Dad was probably the of my whole Wyhoautthwinekrineg? entire holiday. Yo u ' r e Yeah! grounded! THE END I liked the new characters which Liz Pichon introduced. They added something new and different which didn't make reading the series so dull to read. SNOring — and th at was keeping me awake too. The noise was awful. It seemed to be getting louder and LOUDER. It was almost like thunder, deep and rumbly. Then I realized it sounded like thunder . . . b e c au s e it wa s th under. W h i c h was getting clos e r. T he re wa s l ightn i n g too, and really heavy rain that was right above our tent. The storm was HUGE, and it didn’t take long for t h e te nt to b l ow away . AGH ! HELP! E veryone had to run to the car for cove r. T he s to rm la s ted a l l n ight long and everything we had got wet and muddy. Dad had pitched the tent RIGHT NEXT TO A STREAM! It flooded and all our stuff got soaked. Nobody slept at all. It was miserable. 21 It a good book and I read it a lot.I would recommend it to all ages and it’s interesting of what he does a school and try’s to reach’s all the way to the go of the class

I really enjoyed the book.Tom Gate’s books always have lots of unexpected twists. My favorite part was when Tom and his family figured out that they were staying in the wrong place. It is a really good fiction book.I n s tead Mo m g i ves m e a note to give to M r. Fullerman. MKirn. danrdegMarrdss. ,Gates I think Mom was worried my story made them look bad. 31 I won't say this book is a brilliant example of its kind, but it certainly deserves to be a hit. It's warm-hearted, and while not having any kind of moral (other than keep your artwork to yourself and/or on the constructive side) it does feature a recognisable situation. Tom certainly is recognisable – as is the very series, with its full-on doodled covers. This one will become recognised as a very enjoyable read. This is the place to learn about all the brilliant things happening for Tom Gates — 2021 is an epic year for Tom, his family and friends!
