If for one minute anyone thought this was going to be one extended blissful family they are more than wrong....and when the accusations start, cruel and nasty ones and people's hidden agendas come to the fore anything could and does happen

This is an extremely shameful addition to my watched list, I went way too far down the rabbit hole. I saw this on an a tastefully erotic list on here and those movies are far from porn. They are movies with sex in them but there are maybe a couple of sex scenes. I wanted to stop watching this movie once I figured out what it was, but I always commit no matter how bad or in this case uncomfortable a movie makes me. This domestic thriller had lots of twists and turns and gasp out loud moments while at the same time exploring the sensitive issues of divorce, domestic violence and coercive control and bringing this often hidden behind closed doors relationship issues o it into the open and giving them a voice. What would it be like to move with your new significant other next door to your ex and his new lady?Watched this because: this movie was followed by a sequel (The Japanese Wife Next Door – Part 2) which features the exact same cast, but follows Takashi’s fate if he had married Mina (the other woman he shared the drink with that night) instead. This book was just a little drawn out for me, I enjoyed seeing the story line from all the different characters points of view and a big TW for domestic violence is needed. Easy read with a satisfying ending.

An intriguing, entertaining book with everyone being suspicious, you can not trust anyone and with great characters driving the plot, it all makes for a compelling read. I'm sorry, on what planet does a divorced couple think it's a good idea to move into houses next door to each other?! Halsall does a solid job of explaining why the family does it, but I just don't get it. Turns out, A LOT could go wrong! In Rona Halsall's The Wife Next Door, what starts as an ideal setup turns scary when a note appears, keys go missing, and a false accusation is brought into the mix. Excellent pacing and smooth flow. Thorough character development. Just about everyone is a suspect. That can get irritating if it’s poorly handled; with this author, it actually drives the plot in fascinating ways.

What they don't know is that they're messing with the wrong person. And that hell hath no fury like the wife next door... That said, I have a feeling most people will strongly disagree with my thoughts about the final chapter. Please bear that in mind if you’re considering reading this book. I loved 99% of it, so my dislike of the final 1% shouldn’t be given any undue emphasis. But it seems not everyone likes this big, blended stepfamily.I try to ignore the scary note in the ‘new home’ card, and the red pen scrawled through my divorce paperwork. But I can’t pretend it’s all okay when an accusation is made against me that could destroy my life, my home, and my family forever.

Jane is clearing out her mother's house when she sees the neighbours next door arguing. She becomes worried when she sees the husband digging a trench in his garden, believing he is burying his wife. Loved, loved, loved it!!!... A gripping, edge of your seat read to keep us guessing right up until the end!!... The plot twist was goooood!' NetGalley reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was pretty much soft core Japanese porn. I did absolutely no research on this film. I saw a review of the sequel and saw the word funny so I thought it may have been like… Two stories are told throughout the book; the 1970's where main protagonist Jane is a child and living a life of fear with her abusive father and mother, and in the now, where Jane is now living in her childhood home after the loss of her mother. Next door neighbours Evan and Ashleigh seem to have a pretty volatile relationship at times, but all is not as it seems on the surface. Today we move into our new houses, right next door to each other. My ex-husband and me. He’s with someone else. So am I.Just because it's over between us, doesn't mean we can't be friends. My ex-husband and I still care for each other a lot, and we are determined to put our sweet little boy, Toby first.

OH MY DAYS!! I mean seriously OH MY DAYS! Yes, I have to shout this! This book has blown me completely away... As soon as you open the book you are hurtling so fast that you need a minute to take a breath... M y head is still spinning from it all! Blinding!' Zooloo's Book Diary⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The book has a perfect number of suspects that might be out to destroy her life. I sometimes felt like the story unfolded too rapidly, there was no time to catch up or let the anticipation build. First Jess is happy and thinks all is well, but after just one chapter it’s all going downhill so fast that it’s hard to keep up. The author creates a suspenseful plot where you realize that someone has a plan to destroy her family. There are many possible culprits, and Jess suspects everyone. When she sees bruises on her son, her paranoia increases. So many ways the story could have panned out and I have to say I was caught out many times (which was the author’s intent) and this kept me glued to the story until everything finally was revealed.Jane's mother has died and she is emptying the house ready for sale. But the memories are difficult to deal with, as she had a very abusive father and she and her mother were delighted when he left and they were able to live their lives without fear. However, the memories resurface as Jane learns her neighbours Ashleigh and Evan also have a volatile marriage, and then she sees Evan digging a trench in their garden. The result is an interesting rollercoaster as the reader is led along one path, then another, as the two tales of abuse and distress unwind. It becomes hard to identify victim and perpetrator, and nearly costs Jane her marriage as she tries to deal with the legacy time has left her. A couple is getting divorced. Both parties have amicably moved on in life and found other partners. Everyone involved seems to get along well. In fact, they all become close "friends". For the children's convenience, both couples agree to move and live next door to one another. (Yes, you read that right!) They all "think" this is a great idea. What could possibly happen? I can’t say anything too much, as I really don’t want to give any spoilers and this is the type of book I would recommend going blond into.
