About this deal

DNF @ 39%: I was really hoping to love this one, but I struggled *hard* to connect with anything that was happening. Not risking a reading slump to finish a book I'm just not enjoying. Oh well! Liv's POV on her relationship with Ransom felt so real. My girl was in shambles the entire time and down so bad for this man. She holds herself with such poise and strength but as soon as she reunites with him again it's game over. I don’t know how you can read in here,” Mason says, squatting down next to me. “It’s loud as hell.” Readers, especially those who were fans of Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, and similar shows will enjoy the Hollywood setting and cast of fully realized supporting characters in this excellent contemporary romance. A must-read for fans of Christina Lauren, Emily Henry, and early 2000s teen drama shows.” — Library Journal

Yes, he and Maxime are in very real danger of having what they did in 1992 be exposed and come crashing down on them -- but that isn't even close to just the half of it. The last quarter of the book just throws a lot at you,in s good way... left me wondering, what COULD be next. This book was a bit of a meh to me. It didn’t have anything too crazy, again the standard plot based around university friendships spilling over to the professional world. I do have to admit the twist at the end was something I did not see coming which caught me by surprise. I don’t know.” I turn to Dad. “I couldn’t get on the network inside the airport, either. Were they on JetBlue?”

The Reunion is told from six POVS: three being the Chance siblings and the other three being the sibling's love interests. While it can be a little overwhelming in the beginning, I felt like each character had their own unique voice so none were lost among the others. It is futile to deny the complexity of human emotions. Our lives are sometimes inscrutable, often disrupted by conflicting desires. Our lives are fragile, at once precious and insignificant, sometimes bathed in icy waters of loneliness, sometimes in the warm stream of a fountain of youth. Our lives, for the most part, are beyond our control. The slightest thing can turn them upside down. A whispered word, the twinkling of an eye, or a lingering smile can raise us up or cast us into oblivion. And yet, in spite of this uncertainty, we have no choice but to pretend we can control the chaos in the hope that the inclinations of our hearts will find a place in the secret plans of Providence. But now Liv and Ransom will share intimate scenes on set just like the old days. Ransom acts like he misses her so much, giving her mixed signals. Could they build a new friendship or something more than that? Much suspicion on dubious characters and basically being lead down many paths, keeping the reader on their toes. It’s a riveting read, some predictable twists and I can see this book would appeal to many readers. Unfortunately, I didn’t like any of the characters and although initially I had empathy for the main character, her continued bad choices and obsession for vengeance means that she is as unpleasant as many of the others who allegedly did her harm. I give this book 3 *** She finally bares her soul to Thomas, and that would seem to clear up a lot of the questions -- except instead it points to an even more complicated scenario. Ford, Cooper and Palmer Chance are home to plan and attend their parents' anniversary party. The relationship between all of them is strained and distant. Each of them have their own ideas of how to plan the party which just festers all of their ill feelings toward each other. While dealing with each other, they also are dealing with potential relationships. Cooper is my favorite Chance sibling, while I thought Palmer needed a little growing up to do. She was somewhat hateful towards Chance, which irritated me.

Oh y'all. I was so charmed by the blurb on this one! It was straight up my alley and I was so excited to get my hands on it! ITVX has waited until Christmas is out of the way to deliver its first turkey. The Reunion is an adaptation of a French novel and is one of those curious European productions in which the foreign cast perform perfectly well in English, yet experienced British actors behave as if they are in am-dram. Romances aside, familial love also played a big part of this story and Mama and Papa Chance not only brought the humor in this book, they also brought the unconditional love. It's one of the victims of this chain of events that turns out to be far more complex than Thomas had imagined. I close my book, giving up, and crouch down to unzip my suitcase again. I hope Mom’s right, that we’re all really going to hit it off, although it’s Mason and Natalia I most want to spend time with. It’s been far too long since my brother, my cousin, and I have truly talked. There were some parts in the early chapters that felt over-descriptive (a play-by-play of Liv's every move isn't really necessary), but either it got better or I stopped noticing. The gossip articles sprinkled in between chapters was a fun and insightful touch. With an invitation to the University reunion lingering, Emily decides that people must pay for what they did. This is a second-chance romance about two actors, Liv and Ransom, who were the stars of this very successful teen show where they played two people in a relationship. For reasons unknown to the reader they went from being best friends to not speaking for 14 years. Now that they have been hired for the reunion episode and possible reboot of this show, they have to face their feelings about each other and about what happened all those years ago.
