Lee was devastated, not knowing what had happened to her friend. She thought her lost forever, until four years later she receives a phone call from her friend asking for a meeting. While this is happening a top British scientist, Dr. Kay Khan, has recently begun to theorize there are not only multiple realities, but the fabric between them is wearing down resulting in holes allowing ‘others’ to slip through. This sounds amazing! I admit, much like you, I’m not usually a fan of contemporary and I’ve never read a book by this author, although I decisively regret that!

The Doors of Eden review: A gripping alternative biology tech

You got this far, you know what’s coming: NOT recommended! Unless you are a masochist, in which case, go ahead and frolic in the misery. I must say that I wasn’t very sure while reading the synopsis, but i was very intrigued from your review! The characters sound very interesting and you can feel the love you had for this novel! I love novels that travel to different worlds, so I will surely add this to my list x The lesson here is that the Earth doesn’t care; that bad things happen; that it could so easily have been us.” Special thanks to my Patrons on Patreon for giving me extra support towards my passion for reading and reviewing! Arthur C. Clarke Award–winner Tchaikovsky (Children of Ruin) transports readers to a bleak dystopia in this powerful story of class conflict and climate crisis. In the not too distant Continue reading »The premise of multiple timeframes - multiple worlds - is familiar from other SF and actual science. Quantum physics could allow for such, if you want to stretch your mind that way and see how far you get before it breaks. However, the author makes no attempt to explain anything at all. We’re just supposed to buy into all of it anyway. Man I miss Crichton! He mixed science and science fiction so incredibly well! And yes, there are “Jurassic park” references in this book too. As a sci-fi premise, it isn’t entirely new – reading The Doors of Eden, I had echoes of the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter, along with the Neanderthal Parallax trilogy by Robert J. Sawyer – but Tchaikovsky’s combination of techno-thriller and alternative biology had me hooked. She looked at the horrible, crimsoned walls, seeing places where the blood hadn’t just spattered. She took one photo before she had to get out into the air: a few smears and lines, really. Nobody would have thought anything of them, save that there was purpose there. Something had made those streaks, way past the high-water mark of the killing. And they’d see marks like that again.

Sylas K Barrett The Secret of the Sul’Dam: Subtle Changes to the Way the One Power Works in The Wheel of Time TV Series 3 hours ago All that build up lead to an absolutely amazing final quarter. It looked to be heading one way, then he'd magician another possibility out of the sci-fi hat. What a pleasure it must have been for a writer, getting to play with all those possibilities! (spoiler!) Seriously, mind blown starting at the space-faring trilobites. And Fungus as God. Oh, and what an eye-roll at that pandering cat-world! Everything more I could say would be spoilers, so I won't. As an aside, if you thought Dark Matter failed to live up to the sci-fi premise, this is the book for you. I went from considering abandoning it, to a better mood, to wondering if it was another entry by T. into Sci-Fi Canon.

I’m the one in the corner with my nose in a book. Chances are I’m soaring with dragons right now, but when I’m in reality, I’m a reader, writer, blogger and tea-drinker.
