Paul Christopher's "The Sword of the Templars" has a certain familiarity about it; first of all, it focuses on the Templars, then there is an ancient object, a riddle to solve, and it all involves a sort of quest. Despite some criticism, Christopher's descriptive powers are excellent. His characters and situations are vivid, as are his geographic settings. His main character is Army Ranger Lt. Col. John Holliday who had resigned himself to ending his career teaching at West Point.
