The mechanism swivels around the X-axis only, which has its limitations. However, putting it on is no effort at all. The headphones collapse compactly for convenient storage when not in use. Bass is still emphasised, but it’s closer in style to other street headphones, with less of a swamping effect. There’s some texture and detail here, with none of the boxy or flat sensibility demonstrated by some entry-level wireless headphones.

Overall these headphones are an excellent buy, they have a good sound, excellent battery life, and look as good as new even though they have been used daily for almost a year. Sound quality is good for the price but the bass definitely dominates the audio spectrum and even intrudes into the mids. But, for casual listeners, this won’t matter much. Highs are extended and exciting without being sibilant. The Hesh 3 don’t stand out like the Method Wireless do in their class, but they’re enjoyable, if not the smoothest headphones around.I just recieved my headphones today, upon opening them my initial impression of the looks are good. Treble performance is the most impressive. Compared to the Sennheiser 4.40 BT, these sport better treble extension, and energy levels. While I haven’t experience any issues with music playing, when simply walking around wearing the Hesh 3 it’s clear they don’t cut out any more than high-frequency sound. Another nice feature is being able to touch a button on the side of the headphones and answer your phone. I have even answered my phone with it 20 ft away from me and still was able to hold a conversation as if I was holding my phone. The Hesh 3 are Bluetooth headphones, but they don’t offer more special features such as aptX HD and active noise cancellation. However, if you’re simply after a solid, affordable wireless set of headphones then you won’t necessarily be wanting these extras. In terms of a feature set, the Skullcandy Hesh 3 are a basic pair of headphones: You won’t find active noise cancellation, auto play/pause, or multipoint Bluetooth here. It’s annoying that the Hesh 3 can’t connect simultaneously to two devices at once but it’s par for the course in this price range. If you rather not take a risk on the build quality, I would recommend going for the Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless instead. Other than the battery life (15hr vs 22hr) and aesthetics, the Skullcandy Hesh 2 is pretty much similar to the Hesh 3 except with a more stable frame. Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless If you’re happy to switch to on-ear headphones then the AKG Y50BT and Urbanista Seattle Wireless sound better. But if you’re not too treble-sensitive and love the look of the Skullcandy Hesh 3, you could do a lot worse. Verdict

I started looking at Bose and Beats, but to me they both seemed to be overpriced and more hype than anything else. I had always heard of Skullcandy, but never actually tried them. Treble is surprisingly crisp, far more than is on display in other Skullcandy headphones I’ve used. This treble is responsible for quite a lot of the Hesh 3’s energy; the sound isled by the treble and bass, not just the low-end.

Bose earpads feel less durable, BUT, they are the comfort winner. If you have money and want to buy a light, comfy headphones, go for it. Sony are the 2nd best in these models. The soft, well-padded pad that sits between the top of your head and the headband somehow feels bigger than its actual below-average size.
