About this deal

This book was executed really well. The banter was lovely, the sexual tension was surprisingly good, and the fake-dating, enemies-to-lovers aspect was just delicious. Because before you can worry about who’s in your passenger seat, you have to learn to drive yourself.” I try not to look at Tally now as she bounds down the court in her new gold jersey, but it’s like pretending the sun doesn’t exist. She pulls her lips into her mouth like she’s trying to keep a neutral expression, but I can tell she’s thrilled with how this game is going. It validates every reason she had for transferring to a school with a better basketball program, a school where she could finally be noticed. After losing spectacularly to her ex-girlfriend in their first game since their break up, Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, the incredibly beautiful and incredibly mean Irene Abraham. Things only get worse when their nosey, do-gooder moms get involved and the girls are forced to carpool together until Irene’s car gets out of the shop. I hurl the basketball like we’re playing dodgeball and I’m determined to take out their entire team. I feel one boiling second of satisfaction, but then—

She Drives Me Crazy is cheesy and campy and angsty in the absolute best way possible. With brilliant character development and dynamics, an exploration of heartbreak, the effects of a toxic relationship and the importance of looking past preconceptions, Kelly Quindlen has created a story that will resonate with lots of teens, especially queer ones. The characters of She Drives Me Crazy are messy and flawed which just makes them all the more real. With nods to classic rom coms and expert trope usage, this book is perfect for anyone looking for some good teen fun, a lovely sapphic romance and expertly written characters. I think this book was really your typical heartwarming YA novel, complete with the tropes and cliches we all know and love. It was super light and funny, but with a good balance of angst and character growth, which made it really enjoyable. Scottie was tougher to love. From what I remember, this book is in her first person pov and she says and does some things that quite bothered me. In the end, though, I was able to like her characters, especially how she is with Irene now. Oh, and Scottie is a basketball player. After an embarrassing loss to her ex-girlfriend in their first basketball game of the season, seventeen-year-old Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, Irene Abraham, head cheerleader for the Fighting Reindeer. A showrunner and her assistant give the world something to talk about when they accidentally fuel a ridiculous rumor in this debut romance. A debut novel about a queer Mexican American girl navigating Catholic school, while falling in love and learning to celebrate her true self.

Kelly Quindlen is the bestselling author of YA novels She Drives Me Crazy, which was a 2021 Goodreads Choice Awards nominee, and Late to the Party. She is also the author of the self-published novel Her Name in the Sky, which has sold over 30,000 copies through word-of-mouth in the queer community. This book was such a delight to read. Like it was so wholesome and refreshing, definitely due for a reread sometime soon. This was such a lovely YA sapphic romance. Unfortunately, I've struggled to like YA romances like Not My Problem and Starry Eyes because the romance is really underdeveloped and there's a lot of side-filler that I cannot bring myself to care about. But, this book does not do that. The romance was sweet, we had tension, we had tropey moments and ugh it was just splendid. I also love these high school romances sm, like yes, give us what we wish we had tbh. A love letter to late bloomers, Late to the Party combines teenage angst with first loves and second chances and emphasises that true friends will always be there for you even as you discover new parts of yourself." — The Nerd Daily You would think, based on the fact that I’ve played varsity basketball for three years now, that I know how to score a basket. The narration of the audiobook by Piper Goodeve, was great. I felt like I watched a movie when I was done. All the characters came alive and felt like they had their own voices. It didn’t feel like anyone was just slightly different, instead I could easily tell which character was talking from their unique voice and this is a large cast since it takes place at high school, parties, and with families. Minus one dad character voice that was pretty over the top, I think this is one of the more impressive audiobook narrations I’ve heard before so I would easily recommend it.we were told Tally, the ex-girlfriend was toxic, but we were never shown why Scottie loved her in the first place, or how exactly was she toxic

I hate that Tally has become a Candlehawk kid, but maybe I should have seen it coming. She was always obsessed with how things looked and who was doing the looking. Dating her felt like viewing my life through a photo filter. Sometimes I was swept up by how great we looked together; other times, I felt like the photo underneath wasn’t good enough on its own. She Drives Me Crazy is the perfect romcom. It’s the kind of romance that is sizzling with chemistry, but still manages to be utterly earnest and heartfelt. A must-read for every romcom fan.”—Adiba Jaigirdar, author of The Henna Wars

The public, grand love displays 😖. I'm sorry, I find them so cringey, embarrassing, and unrealistic. I don't find it romantic at all 😭 Things are never easy when love is involved, and Quindlen ( Late to the Party) offers a queer refresh of multiple romance genre standbys: enemies to friends (Irene once had Scottie’s car towed), fake dating, sports romance, and surmounting a broken heart. Add in a supportive family whose members actually like each other, and the result is a satisfyingly feminist rom-com mash-up."— Publishers Weekly
