About this deal

On top of their breathable upper construction, this model is also fairly easy to clean which is awesome because you’re likely going to get these dirty on various trails. The sole and upper are super easy to spot clean and the lacing system helps to prevent dirt build-up in the midfoot. Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG Cons Personally, I would love to see improvements for the next Primus Trail models as this shoe does have areas where its performance falls short. Re)new and improved- remade with more sustainable materials that have reduced this impact this footwear has on the planet. While the lugs on the Primus Trail II FG may not be the best for technical trails, they’re not so jarring that they impact lifting and stability in the gym. That being said, I think if you want one of these models for hikes and trail runs that can also double as a good shoe in the gym, then you should go with the Primus Trail II FG.

Hey! For the Trail, I’ve actually changed my thoughts on their sizing as I’ve worn them more, especially for longer hikes. I’d suggest going up a half size in the Trail as it runs a little shorter compared to the Primus Lite and Geo Racer! Re)new and improved- remade with recycled materials that have reduced this impact this footwear has on the planet. The shoes appear very durable so far, after multiple hours running on trails, including plenty of muddy river banks and woods with fallen logs. There are a few creases, but all the materials are bonded well, and they seem to be decently put together. The upper mesh is super flexible, and Vivo appear to have put some extra stitching where the mesh meets the more substantial side plastic in this area. Time will tell, but our money would be on this area failing first. So, come wintertime, rain season, etc – these will do just fine. At least for keeping your feet warm and dry against light rainfall. The Primus Trail III All Weather Firm Ground is a water-resistant evolution of the Primus Trail FG: our original, best-selling trail-running sneaker. Our reviewer found the Primus Trail let his feet breath really well, and they were surprisingly good at keeping trail juice out (puddles need to be pretty deep before water gets in), but there was some tightness around the smaller toes.

LIQUIPROOF PREMIUM PROTECTOR. With wear, your shoes may loose some water resistent quality that is applied to the textile of the shoes. This product can be used to replenish the water repellent qualities. Our finest reconditioned footwear is ‘like new’, showing very few signs of wear and will be ready for a newpair of feet. If you’re someone that wants to save a little money and you want to go the barefoot trail shoe route, then you might want to look into the Xero Shoes Mesa Trail model. This model will cost you less and deliver a similar performance to the Primus Trail II FG. Once you can’t repair or don't need them anymore, send us your old Vivos and we’ll make they sure they’re given a second life, or if they’re really well-loved, we'll store them until we launch our recycling solution.

The Sierra Designs 800 20 is all designed to make nights in the great outdoors more comfortable – no zips required! Overall, the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG is a great shoe for casual rambles and around town, or in other words, a trail shoe for the environmentally conscious. A combination that will suit many right down to the ground…

The Primus Trail II Firm Ground is our original, best-selling trail-running sneaker. It’s light, durable and flexible for wide-ranging trail adventures that bring you closer to the earth. I personally think this is a good thing because it adds to this shoe’s ability to protect the feet and not beat them up while also giving you enough to simulate being barefoot. This model has a 2.5mm base sole with 4mm lugs which work really well on light and moderately technical trails. The Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG is a fairly good trail running and hiking barefoot shoe. This model excels for more casual hikes and trails where the terrain is not super technical or loose.I think the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail 2 All-weather (or winter) versions are a great in-between and versatile shoe that can do everything. Still, in hot summer I would definitely opt for a different shoe. I highly recommend these however and really enjoy them and imagine you will too! More specifically, I think this barefoot shoe performs best on light to moderately technical trails. It’s not going to be your best for technical trails that have a lot of loose terrains. The lugs in this model have a depth of 4mm which run fairly on the lower end for traction promoting lugs. While closing the loop on manufacturing processes and shortening supply chains ultimately reduces impact, this is certainly not the norm when compared to current standards of conventional production. Though this results in more expensive products for now, companies producing according to standards set by B Corp are at least striving to create positive change within their industries. The price of the Primus Trail II FG is higher than others, but the production of this shoe is also being held to a higher ethical standard. Conclusion

Montane Women’s Tucana Pants are a wardrobe staple for year-round comfort whilst walking and exploring if you want to have your feet splay out more – over the course of 6-12 months your feet may grow if you’re new to barefoot 🙂 Reply Overall I am very satisfied with the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail. Having worn these extensively over the past 6-12 months they have become one of my go to options for my longer runs and a lot of my trail adventures. The best aspect of these shoes is their comfort, the foot is as comfortable in the first mile as the last over any surface. They allow me to perform to my best ability over any surface and give me the confidence to push myself knowing the shoe won’t let me down over technical sections. Over the course of my testing, I tried to use the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG on a variety of trails and hikes to help contextualize where they perform the best and where they fall short.Vivo’s claims that the Primus Trail II FGs can perform on all kinds of conditions and terrain really stood up on test. The grip was brilliant and the shoes inspired confidence on even the most slippery of surfaces. Also, considering the amount of traction they give, you still feel the ground rather than the treads. They certainly feel better on trail rather than road, but this tactile trail feel points to them being well designed for their intended purpose. However, the amount of flex on offer here does pose a bit of a challenge when a stable platform is needed. Even on steep grassy slopes there’s no chance of seriously digging in, it’s all about working with the terrain rather than fighting it – fine in everyday situations, but potentially concerning on steeper, more exposed terrain.
