The planetarium is part of the Royal Observatory, at the top of a hill with spectacular views across London. Please allow enough time to get to us and aim to arrive at least 15 minutes before the show’s start time, as latecomers cannot be admitted. Raman Prinja is Professor of Astrophysics at University College London, where he specialises in massive stars, star formation and the evolution of galaxies. He is a multiple winner of UCL faculty and department teaching awards and is keen to bring the subject of astronomy to a wider audience. He has written several successful books on the subject, including Night Sky Watcher which was shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize in 2015. Your donation will:Written by an astrophysicist from University College London and illustrated by the phenomenally talented Chris Wormell, Planetarium explores the solar system, the sun, the night sky as seen from Earth, the stars, galaxies, and the universe as we know it. The Universe is a vast and intriguing place, and this show explores our own little corner of it: the Solar System. Starting from our home planet, the Earth, we’ll travel through our celestial neighbourhood, visiting planets, moons, asteroids and more! This version of the show is more suitable for older children, adults or anyone who would benefit from a more in-depth look into the subject. Room lighting is left at a higher level, bright enough that you can walk around safely, and leave and re-enter the show if you wish.
