Sorry, I normally like this author’s books but this one was just totally underwhelming. It started off quite well, setting the scene, introducing what sounded like interesting characters and I liked the idea of setting it in a writers’ room - but then - I just lost interest. This Is Our Story had the potential to be all shades of amazing. Its premise sounds like a mix between The Raven Boys and With Malice. bana güvenemiyorsun. This was a surprisingly good murder mystery. I did not see any of that coming. And it was interesting how you get to read about the police interviews as well as the murderers point of view without giving anything away. They were arrested on 9 May 1968 and convicted in 1969 by the efforts of a squad of detectives led by Detective Superintendent Leonard "Nipper" Read, and were both sentenced to life imprisonment. Ronnie is even more matter of fact about his acts of violence and asks for no sympathies, yet comes across as a sensitive yet troubled individual who welcomes the help he gains. What was also fascinating is they talked about the Richardson brothers and their gang. I've read Eddie's account, and it does not coincide in the slightest bit. Who is right? Since the beginning, I found it a bit slow but really entertaining, with the right mix of murder mystery and intrigues, and even if I must admit the romance felt a little stale and terribly cheesy at times, it was nice to see two characters respecting the other so much.Reggie comes across as defiant about what they did and how they are STILL remembered, yet PLEAD WORTHY that they have served their time and justice has been done. The characters in this novel are just all so wonderfully complicated. Their friendships run deep and their loyalties run deeper still. It was kind of heart-breaking to watch it all crumble, but also immensely fascinating. No that is unfair - there is some interesting info in this book but there are just too many names and dates that I am frankly not interested in.
