Let’s talk about our three POVS: Good mother Claire, evil scientist madam Frankenstein Jillian (Don’t forget, this name firstly belonged to the doctor not to the patched man they’ve created) and our miracle child Abby.Serena Valentino’s Mother Knows Best is the tale of Mother Gothel and what was going on with her before she became Rapunzel’s kidnapper/mother. It’s a decidedly darker tale than the ones we’ve previously read in the Villains series, at least I thought so. It seemed Gothel was always on the path towards darkness. And all manner of mayhem ensues as Elsie moves up to first grade at an exclusive private school that grandma Prue pays for; and Peaches gives Margie another challenging assignment - find the tea-cup pig. The latest addition to this hilarious series will not disappoint fans of Margie and Peaches. Karen MacInerney is at her outrageous best with a series that feels like Lucy and Ethyl meet the cozy mystery genre, with more than a tad of naughty thrown in for fun. After burying her 8-year-old son who died of mitochondrial disease, Claire Abrams vows not to have another child. She doesn't want to pass on the disease that killed so many in her family. That is until she hears of Dr. Robert Nash, who is experimenting with the possibility of eliminating genetic illness by creating a baby who has 3 genetic parents. But this experiment spins out of control, destroying a once happy family. Fast forward to 11 years after the experiment--a psychopath is on the loose, and Claire might lose the child she fought so hard to conceive.

Book Review: Mother Knows Best Disney Book Review: Mother Knows Best

Mother Knows Best by Kira Peikoff is a unique, original and thought provoking novel that I thoroughly enjoyed! Years later, after her parents start acting strange, Abigail starts to suspect something is awry. When she “accidentally” discovers what it is, Abby is flummoxed. Who woulda thought? Once Abby discovers her parent’s secret, danger awaits and a game of cat and mouse begins. This was a totally unique thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed in audiobook form. You have to get past a little bit of initial skepticism about the premise — which I won’t spoil, but which has to do with genetic modification. There was suspense at every turn and starts out with the small family at the heart of the book on the run from a mysterious person for unknown reasons. There’s a lot of honest emotion here about Claire’s struggles losing a young child to a rare genetic condition, and finally having another child who contains a multitude of secrets that Claire has to protect from the world.

Mother Knows Best - Goodreads

When Claire’s first son passes away from Mitochondrial Disease she is devastated, especially as she carried the gene and passed it on to him. Desperate to get pregnant again, she finds a way to get what she wants. Hearing of experimental treatment that has not yet been approved, she approaches the doctor who is working a scientific procedure to create a Three Parent Baby! One who would only get healthy genes! Can you say Voila? Enter Abigail. As I read this book, I could easily see it as a TV Show, a dramedy like The Mysteries of Laura or Monk. It has the kind of action and insanity that would work perfectly on TV. And yet this is only half the story. So what of the old witch, Mother Gothel? Where does she come from? And how does she come across the magical golden flower? Here is one account that recounts a version of the story that has remained untold for centuries . . . until now. It is a tale of mothers and daughters, of the true undying love between sisters, of youth and dark magic. It is a tale of the old witch. The author has framed the medical discovery (which is real, although I don’t know how far the technology has been used to date in humans) as a breakthrough unreasonably stifled by conservative American moral concerns, thereby leading to unnecessary suffering. Personally, while I have sympathy for affected families, rules and close monitoring are there for a reason, and the way the trio go about creating Abby is unforgivable. Ok so here's the thing the first book was amazing. I actually enjoyed Margie, She had no clue what she was really doing, almost made me think of Stephanie Plum from the Janet Evanovich series. So of course I decided to read about Margie again and see what is going on. Last book we findout her husband is gay but trying not to be, they have two kids, and a pain in the butt cat. If you enjoy funny situations and characters, who are trying really hard to get through each day, this is definitely the series for you. I recommend you start with the first book of the series (Mother's Day Out) which introduces the characters and why they are where they are in their lives. It is well worth your time. Ten years later, she has a daughter ... free of any genetic mutation. How was this possible? It's a secret ... a secret that could put Claire, her doctor Robert Nash, and his assistant Jill at great risk. They have discovered how to eliminate inherited diseases ... but anything they do is entirely illegal.

This depicts certain scenes from the movie that were somewhat altered with the Odd Sisters in them, showing that this Tangled version is set in some alternate reality.I enjoyed the first book in this series (Mother's Day Out) very much and looked forward to this sequel. And I wasn't disappointed. It was so good I could hardly put it down especially the last few chapters. Margie Peterson is a unique heroine -- a dependable hard working employee, a loyal friend, a loving mother and terribly disorganized. She gets into wild predicaments but always manages to get to school meetings or social gatherings albeit a few minutes late and perhaps somewhat under dressed or smelling less than daisy fresh. Whether working on the case of a kidnapped pregnant pig who swallowed her phone or helping her boss Peaches move a spandex clad dead school administrator, Margie perseveres and never lets anyone down. Except herself, Margie doesn't realize her own value as a private investigator or a friend or as a mother nor as a wife. Earlier this year I suggested you could also wait to watch a new series based on Valentino’s books entitled Book of Enchantments that was under development for Disney+. That project was abandoned in late August 2019, so that option is no longer available. Apparently Disney thought the series was “too dark” for their family-friendly streaming service.
