Mintec (peppermint oil) is an aromatic carminative which acts locally to relax gastro intestinal smooth muscle and relieve gastro-intestinal flatulence and colic. The enteric coating of the capsules is designed to delay release of the peppermint oil beyond the stomach and upper small bowel. Peppermint oil is not known to affect other medicines. However, you shouldn't take indigestion remedies (antacids) at the same time of day as Mintec (or in the two hours before or after taking it), as these could make the capsules dissolve before they reach the bowel and so make them less effective.
