About this deal

Completely agree with Huw's assessment on this that the real reason it was cancelled was to try and cover up this technical flaw with the gear box. As said, there no other reason to not have handed out early review models. Think of it like a car. Let's say a wing mirror was prone to lopsided but can be an easily fixed with manufacturer supplied parts. No recall required. HOWEVER, if a car was liable to lose control at certain speeds cos of a problem in the suspension then it would need to be recalled for obvious reasons

The four movements are facilitated in the same way: Turn on the motor, then move the gearbox switches as required. Or, move a switch first, then turn on the motor. Once movement is complete, turn the motor off, or move the gearbox switch into the central neutral position. Some of the replies on here also make me wonder about some AFOLs ability to get too upset about a Lego set. Lego has a strict policy of not producing any modern military vehicles. This is a modern military vehicle (even if it doesn’t have guns). If other organisations which are not military use this vehicle then Lego can say it is explicitly that version. But they can’t do that here. So they can’t release it. It’s a bit of a shame because it looks quite good, but no point fussing over it. But some LEGO fans defend the color problem as not being a problem. I know Technic is a functionality toy but you have to respect the fans that are into LEGO for the looks of a car, Architecture or a building that in lately is made with disturbing difference in colors. The only thing I am disappointed about is the new battery box; hopefully Lego will put this in a set in the near future.Whatever the reason, you'd have thought it would have become apparent much earlier in its design lifecycle."

Fortunately, LEGO® is LEGO® and you as a LEGO® fan can decide for yourself what you want to build or not. If you find it very unfortunate that this construction set is not released as an official set, you can still (almost) build it with the building instructions. I also think this is a brilliant solution, but where fans see "just another 3 gears" the designers, managers, factories, etc. might see limitations we have absolutely no idea about. ]] However, the gearbox contains a serious design flaw, the likes of which we've never encountered in a Technic model before. I've managed to break it within a few hours of building it. If the mechanisms are kept within their limits and operated in a particular way, they operate fairly well, but it's all too easy to strain the motor and break the gears. Once they've been attached all that remains to be done is to cover the mechanisms, and attach the tail and the rotor blades, which are a bit fiddly.

Yes, you are probably right not to care about this. Elegance, refinement and quality are not to be found in all the places in this world. I find it bizarre that people insist that Lego is trying to hide the real reason it was cancelled. A bad gearbox design makes tons of sense. Yes, they could have sold it then sold fix kits like the did with Wall-e. But who really wants that. I would laugh if Lego admitted it was the fault in the set as a reason to recall and that they would 're-release' the set with Lego supplying the parts to remedy the problem. I think if they said they cancelled it due to the error in design it would have been better, by a fraction.

The V-22 Osprey is the world's first tilt rotor aircraft, capable of both vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL). Asking so much money for some plastic toys is reasonable if a big chunk of earnings is going to marketing, focus groups, advisers, quality control. What this list doesn't have: All parts with new color listed in the previous question in the original colors.I understand people who were looking forward to this being upset. But the whole “go woke go broke” sentiment is nonsense. This set really is an anomaly. Anyone who has worked for Lego or watched a documentary or two would know that Lego has always opposed making sets of military assets. They’ve made exceptions for historically significant air craft from generations ago, and they also have IPs like Star Wars with fictional, fantastical, and sanitized forms of warfare or violence. They’ve toed the line with some sets that are clearly based on actual military hardware, though modified and depicted in non-military roles. Important note: We do not control this inventory and cannot currently make changes to it. Use it as a guide to the contents of the set, or to find out part numbers when requesting replacements. Whatever the reason, you'd have thought it would have become apparent much earlier in its design lifecycle.
