About this deal

Taste Fruity and spicy/spirity, dried fruits, raisin, bramble, dried apple and mango, slightly leathery, plenty of cinnamon fizz, tannic oak and freshly grated nutmeg. With water more spice, oak and a hint of cardboard. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. On the nose: Starts with a strikingly malty aroma. More lime juice, as well as stewed stone fruit, chalk, orange marmalade, and yellow sandwich mustard. The wood here is better integrated and more balanced than the 15 year old. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.

The sherry really peaks through here in a way that makes me think of all the great, old, Glenfarclas I’ve enjoyed. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. This is a complex and elegant whisky. Sweet dried fruit, vanilla cream, cinnamon, baking spices and a drying oak all dance together. The flavors and smells are rich and warm, owing to the high strength. Its flavor profile is best suited to a cold winter night. Being Jewish i cannot confirm whether it tastes like christmas but many people say it does. Nose: Intense, powerful sherry. Cream sherry, certainly – Pedro Ximenez? almost… a touch of peppermint? An almost rancio quality to this. Smells older than 15. Having tried the 15 year, I bought a 20cl first to try. Giving it time in the glass and just a wee bit of water really brings out this lovely dram. It can be tasted neat (which I rarely do with at such abv) but it's really nice and nothing like it's 15 year old brother.Haven’t got any bad Glenfarclas ever. Simple as that. I especially love the 105′ because of its higher strength and the – for glenfarclas normally being straight simple but classic in design questions – outstanding design. Reminds me of the 185th anniversary bottling. Awesome dram.

Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength - House of Malt

Glenfarclas finally got round to releasing a 40 Year Old official bottling in 2010, while in January 2011 Glenfarclas released a limited edition bottling to mark the distillery's 175th anniversary. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength is somewhat of an oddity in the distillery’s currentrange. It is the only one which doesn’t presently carry an age-statement (however the Internet suggests that it is at least 8 year old). Similarly to fellow cask strength sherried heavy weight Aberlour A’bunadh, as a vatting of casks there are reports of batch variance for time to time, but that’s the nature of the beast when it comes to vattings. It’s bottled at a hefty 60% ABV is naturally coloured, and although not specified, I am presuming is probably non chill-filtered.The bottling was eventually re-named to 105, referring to its alcohol content in British Proof, which equates now to 60% ABV. Nice review. I, too, like the 21 year old quite a lot, and the 30 even more, though it’s a rather painful step up in price. Interestingly, the photos you show here indicate that the 25 year old bottling was pre-2009; the other two following the required labelling changes of SWR 2009. I’m sure that affects what’s in the bottle, though it’s unclear if these were the actual bottles from which your review arose. Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. And not outrageously expensive. … There will come a time when I have to curb my spending , so getting what I can before prices rise to a point that makes them ‘unobtainable’. It’s already happened for a few so once the bottle is empty, that’s it..

I received a bottle of this today and have had a few drams from it. The most striking aspect of this whisky is the intense driness. I don't think I have experienced that in a single malt or indeed any whisky before. This has a very thin mouthfeel. No oiliness at all.
