The 2023 Bristol Balloon Fiesta begins on Thursday, with more than 500,000 people and 100 hot air balloons set to descend on (and ascend from) Ashton Court Estate over the next four days. While it was a very early start, people still got up to Lloyds Amphitheatre to watch the hot air balloons being inflated.Friday morning's mass ascent (August 12) saw more than 60 balloons fill the skies for the first launch of the fiesta and this was followed by even more on Saturday and Sunday morning. Shaped balloons such as Wes the Wolf, Busby the Queen's guard and the famous 'Up' balloon (inspired by the Disney film) were among them to put on a show for the huge crowds that had come along to soak up some sunshine and enjoy their hot air balloon fix. The Trust is the only charity in the UK dedicated to meeting the needs of teenagers and young adults fighting cancer, with seven young people aged 13-24 diagnosed every day.
