About this deal

But it's also being squeezed into an ever-growing Garmin lineup that still includes the very capable Epix (Gen 2) and Garmin Forerunner 965 as cheaper options. As we mentioned in our Fenix 7 Pro review, our only concern is the potential for accidental light-ups. Another new addition to the Epix Pro is the physical flashlight, which is also a new feature on the Fenix 7 Pro in the sense that previously this was only available on the largest model (Fenix 7X) but is now available on all three sizes. It's yet to be clarified whether this LED flashlight is the same as the Enduro 2's, which is said to be 50% brighter than the one found in the Fenix 7X. There are three sub-dials you can customize including the color and we found it's a good way to keep tabs on battery life status and daily step counts. For instance, the Fenix 7 Pro and the Epix Pro both use the new Elevate Gen 5 bio-sensor, have two brand new features added (Hill Score and Endurance Score), integrate a physical flashlight into the watch case, and more. Which one should you get, though? I was sent a sample of both a little over a week before the launch, and after spending some quality time with them, I think I know the answer.

As with all of Garmin's mid-cycle updates, the Epix Pro 2 looks pretty identical to the Epix 2, though there are a few key differences to be aware of. This is only an iterative update in many ways, with the notable exception of the new flashlight. As on the Fenix 7X, this is incorporated at the top of the casing, facing outwards at 90 degrees from your hand. It’s a good design choice: when you raise your watch in the normal way, your flashlight is pointing forwards. Some brands use the watch face as a flashlight, which necessitates twisting your wrist at an awkward angle, or removing the watch entirely, to make use of it. Despite this being a bit of a win for the Epix, then, we'd also caveat it by saying the FR965 performed similarly well in most of these higher-intensity interval or tempo workouts.OLATHE, Kan./May 31, 2023/PR Newswire – Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) today announced epix ™ Pro Series, its next-gen high-performance GPS smartwatches with a crystal-clear AMOLED display, rugged design and impressive battery life. In this article, you will find everything you need to know about the upcoming Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Series and Epix Pro (Gen2) smartwatches. As usual, I’ve been putting these watches through their paces. From crazy long trail runs from sea level to the top of an 8,000ft mountain, to doing an Ironman 70.3 race last weekend, to everything in between. And alongside that, my wife has been taking out the smaller edition Epix Pro 42mm sized unit in her long-distance training, as well as the smaller 42mm Fenix 7S Pro.
