The Creality Ender-5 Pro has a large build area considering its low price. As a kit, it takes a fairly easy few hours to assemble. Its print quality tops that of many 3D printers in its price range. Its main flaw is that, as with many printers limited to manual bed-leveling, getting and keeping the print bed properly calibrated can be a headache. Testing the Firmware Settings # The Ender 5 Pro is ever so slightly more suited to more temperature-sensitive materials like nylon that require hotter nozzle temperature to print well.
In theory, PLA does not require a heated print bed and can be printed at room temperature. However, the print bed adhesion is significantly better if you set temperatures between 50 and 60 °C. With the Ender 5 (Plus/Pro), it's also quite rare that you'll need to use tools like Blue Tape to increase print bed adhesion. At the time of this writing, you can find default profiles for the Ender 5 and Ender 5 Plus. However, the Ender 5 Pro hardly differs from the Ender 5 in its Cura settings. All its dimensions are the same, it only has a few upgrades. Due to the other extruder, the settings for the feed or retraction could be different. More on that later. The Ender 3 Max can be upgraded with auto leveling, but the process is a bit more difficult than other printers such as the CR-10 V2. The Ender 3 max also has 50mm less of vertical build volume than CR-10 series printers, but we have found that most parts do not require this extra height in our experience.Cloud Storage Note: Extract to a folder that is NOT in a “cloud” storage folder. Many users have reported issues using the firmware when the folder is in a cloud storage folder. The Sprite direct drive extruder is the same one you’ll find on the Ender 3 S1, and it has proven to be extremely reliable under extended use for our 3D printing business. Brims and rafts print an area of filament on the outside or under the print object. This increases the surface and adhesion. However, these two options are only necessary for extreme cases and have the disadvantage that you have to remove this auxiliary construction from the print object after printing. The 5 Pro comes bundled with a proprietary version of the Cura slicer, the so-called Creality slicer. The default printer profile lets you smoothly print with the provided filament just after unboxing. Aside from a 5°C bump on the Ender 5 Pro nozzle temperature, the two printers are identical. Both are suited to the most common 3D printing materials – PLA, ABS (enclosure required for the best results as ABS requires a stable thermal environment), TPU, and PETG. For other materials you need higher temperatures on your print bed to allow for good adhesion. PETG needs about 70 °C and ABS even 110 °C.
The Ender 3 V2 ships with a tempered carborundum glass bed, while the Ender 5 Pro has a classic magnetic build plate.
