About this deal

Also, batteries have a discharge rating called amp hours (ah). You must specify to the DME what the “ah” rating of your battery is so the car can run the proper charging algorithm. This is also how people lose their DEALER flashed PPK tune. The dealer fails to perform the proper programming portion of the PPK flash and the VO is never updated to reflect the PPK tune is installed on the vehicle. Return visits to the dealer then results in the dealers software to recommends DME updates that overwrite the PPK dme software! If you properly update the VO then only software, and settings, that matches your cars hardware will be recommended! BMW 3 Series in version E90 was produced in the years 2005 – 2011. We invite you to a list of batteries matching individual engine versions. A: There are several methods that can be used to register a new battery. See options 1, 2, and 3 below: The FSW_PSW.TRC file we generated when we “read” the CAS module is where we are going to change the battery settings. After making our changes, we will then change the file extension to the file type NCS uses to write to the selected module (.MAN).

Navigate: File>Load SGB>C:/EDIABAS/ECU/ [choose the appropriate .prg file for your DME – see appendix A] I ended up using Carly to code my battery again. Even though the lowest setting I found in the CAS module was 80ah AGM, Carly provided a 36ah AGM option. After using Carly to code my new battery, INPA does indeed confirm (see appendix D) the charging system is using a 36ah AGM charging map, or at least INPA recognizes that’s what Carly set it to. Not always true. Besides reading product literature... can you provide me any real world numbers as to how an AGM battery is "better" then a FLA battery? Don't get me wrong... my OEM FLA 90AH battery lasted 7 years and almost 100k miles before i got my first high discharge battery warning (I didn't let it get to the point of failure before changing it). When I replaced the battery, I did get an AGM battery because it was cheaper with coupon compared to a comparable FLA battery (But the trade off was much less battery warranty period). The only real world metric I will care to see is, will this replacement battery last the same 7 years and almost 100k miles or will it crap out sooner? The N-cell battery was designed by Burgess Battery Company and was part of a series of smaller batteries including the Z battery ( AA) and the Number 7 battery ( AAA). Select: File>save as>FSW_PSW.MAN (be sure to select “save as type” to all files so that it will accept the “.MAN” extension. If you fail to do so it will just save it as a text file .TXT)Well, it depends on what you want. I upgraded my battery to H8-90AH it's longer than factory battery. However, it is worth it and it can fit well.. Registering the battery with the car ECU is highly recommended even with the same type / size battery. Recoding is only required if changing type.

Installation was OK except for the clamp which holds the battery in place. Too little space to work with, and my car didn't have the long screw as a lot of other people have. Initial plan is to code or program it with Carly BMW app, then register it also with Carly BMW app. Using Kcan/Scan cable with OTG harness. Use Rheingold (ISTA-D) to REGISTER and/or CODE a new battery. The virtual machine, mentioned above, comes pre-loaded with this dealer level software. An ICOM emulator is all setup for you to use this program with the aforementioned K+DCAN cable.

Ok so I replaced genuine BMW battery 12V 90Ah 900A (EN) - 160RC 900CCA (SAE) with replacement Energizer 95Ah 850A. My 'garbage' OEM battery has been in my 2011 since 10/2010 production date, and is still going strong. (I know I am jinxing myself by making that statement, but I plan on replacing the battery proactively soon, since it is now 6.9 years old!)

If you do not register the battery, the car will still operate normally, but it is likely you will get a shorter life out of the new battery. Yes thank you. For sure.. Can you confirm if this is the right way to do it assuming I replace with the same spec battery It started with a Battery Discharge error. Also, when the battery starts to go, funky things happen as the car shuts things down to conserve power: bluetooth went out, A/c valves wouldn't open on start up. Also, I really knew when it was starting VERY slowly....it was a matter of days before it was done.To remove the trim cover from the battery compartment, simply turn the release and pull the cover free from the body of the vehicle. Since the original lead acid E90 battery tends to last 5-6 years, I think for most people a regular replacement lead acid battery probably works just fine. The specifications of 720CCA and 90AH suggest (but don't prove) you currently have an H8. H6 is about 7.5" x 11"; H7 is 7.5" x 12.5"; H8 is 7.5 x 14".
