About this deal

As a reader you are drip fed information but you know that there’s always vital clues that Cross and his team know that you don’t. I found myself desperately wanting to know what was in the file or what someone had told them. How dare they know more than me!!! Everything is pursued very logically, there’s never a sense of “why would they do that” or something obvious being missed. You’re fed just enough information throughout to have you guessing what’s going to happen or who did it without ever being given enough that you can foretell the future of the story. As with all Alex Cross books, there’s plenty of focus on the crimes but equal time is given to Cross and his family, including his best friend John Sampson. Alex Cross is the ultimate heroine!!! boy, I have gotten used to bad grammar and apostrophes in the wrong place but this is just too much. Also I think I remember there being used instead of their at the beginning of the revue. Lord help us!! Reply Opening with two 16yr-olds coming across a luxury car parked in the grounds of Harrison Charter High School - containing two dead bodies. No-one around, they think, and proceed to rob the man and woman of their valuables. Kay Willington, a wealthy socialite and ex-wife of the serving Vice President, lay beside Randall Christopher, a respected educator with political ambitions. Alex is brought onto the case and he knows both the victims, but his past dealings with Kay lead an enthusiastic writer to try to smear Alex's reputation.

Also, I have been under the impression that there ARE Cross novels that precede “Along Came a Spider”. Born March 22, 1947, Patterson was raised in New York in Newburgh. He was the son of a school teacher and an insurance salesman, and first started writing when he was 19 years old. He attended Manhattan College and graduated in 1969. Vanderbilt University gave him a full scholarship to attend their graduate program in English. He departed there before he was able to leave with a degree thanks to complications from the Vietnam War. This a rollercoaster ride, never letting go of the pace right til the end. I cannot recommend James Patterson books more. This time around brings some real sadness for John Sampson (no spoilers) so he may not play such a pivotal role within the crime investigation as per usual but his own story plays alongside.Patterson is famous for his short sharp chapters that turn out to be a real honeytrap for me. When taking a book to bed, it’s far too tempting to read just that one extra chapter and before long it’s hours later. So, yes another all-nighter here. For long-term readers, it should carry a warning that we have to say goodbye to a beloved character in the series. It’s a very clever story that combines 3 different cases, emotional heartache and a satisfying solution. I wait for new Alex Cross books with a degree of impatience. This one didn't disappoint. There is less of the psychological insight in this one, and more of the dogged police work, but still a great read. As the daughter of a librarian Jen's love of books started from a very early age. Her reading obsession continued throughout her teenage years when she studied both English Language and English Literature at college. I love James Patterson’s novels so was really excited to get the chance to read this one. Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing!

I was delighted when this one came out hard on the heels of his last. In this book, he has his work cut out for him as there are a number of intertwined plots and personal issues, and when one of the victims is someone from his past, he finds himself the subject of some possibly harmful speculation. Along Came a Spiderkiller Gary Soneji has been dead for over ten years. Alex Cross watched him die. But today, Cross saw him gun down his partner. Is Soneji alive? A ghost? Or something even more sinister? Detective Cross (2017) These books offer a condensed and intense experience, allowing readers to enjoy a thrilling Alex Cross adventure in a shorter time frame. Cross Kill (2016)As a shadow force advances on the nation’s capital, Sampson alone must protect the Cross family, his own young daughter, and every American, including the president. Alex Cross Must Die/Cross Out (2023) As they face resistance and danger, Cross must draw upon his skills as a doctor, detective, and family man to uncover the truth and prevent further bloodshed. Fear No Evil (2021)
