The 2104D is a good choice for sewers who just want the main 3 or 4 thread stitches, easy threading, and don’t want to spend too much. We are seeing quite a few machines coming in with problems caused by a budget brand of needles being sold at some department stores.

These are all the result of cost-saving decisions the manufacturer has to make for a budget product. I just want to show what can fit under a presser foot that’s 4mm+ high. Will it sew denim/upholstery fabric? I timed how long it took 2 people on Youtube to thread the lower loopers of the Brother 4234Dand Janome 8002D. The 2104D has all the dial situated on the right-hand side of the machine which makes it much easier when having to make adjustments and you do not have to move the fabric to reach any dials. Other conveniences like a built-in spreader, a more sensitive differential feed system, a more sensitive pressure adjustment dial, etc. It would be nice if there was space for the brush because you’ll need it often, but it’s not a deal-breaker.At 5 – 6 mm high, the 2104D will be able to get even more underneath. What can fit under a 4mm high presser foot? 8 layers of medium to heavy weight denim (each fold is 2 layers). I’m using the Brother 4234d, not 2104d. I was quite surprised it comes with so many feet. Even the more expensive Brother 4234D only gets 1 extra foot, let alone 3!
