About this deal

Harvey, Steve (6 October 2009). Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment. Harper Collins. ISBN 9780061964497– via Google Books. Treat yourself with dignity and respect. Loving and respecting yourself means appreciating that you are unique and being true to yourself. Don't compromise your values for someone else, and don't try to change who you are to impress anyone. Be confident in who you are and people will be drawn to your strength. It’s not just manners – modern lady etiquette is more than knowing how to keep an elegant posture or what to say in social chatter. This will say a lot about you, including the fact that you value people more than a piece of technology. Now, let’s say a woman doesn’t care about societal breakdown and doesn’t care that she has the power to change the behavior of those around her with simple, dignified actions. Then perhaps this will change her mind: if you want love and respect in your life, you must show love and respect to others. Women today believe that they can be the worst versions of themselves and still receive love and respect in return. It simply doesn’t work that way.

A lady approaches dating and relationships slowly and with caution. She wisely takes her time to get to know the person she is dating. A lady is looking for a man who will behave like a gentleman and treat her well and with respect. She will be open minded at first, but if she truly believes someone is not suitable for her, she will let them down gently. Whilst she enjoys the whole process of dating, a lady will not let a man pressurise her into sleeping with him before she is ready. She isn't promiscuous and is sexy without being vulgar. She is also able to make the first move in a relationship. A Lady Doesn't Drop Her FriendsUndoubtedly this is a good performance, but I’d expect that from a man who cut his teeth in stand up. By being a high quality woman, by setting the bar high and by demanding and requiring proper behavior, you communicate that you’re a keeper.

Of course, don’t let anyone step on your head too – if someone is treating you badly, there is no need to “be okay” with it. What I detested about this book is that it stated that all men are generally all pigs who can't control their desires. Which makes them animals incapable of making higher intelligent choices. And all the fault in a relationship gone wrong is the women in them. There are some good points in the first half of the book (because I couldn't finish the second half) about women standing up for themselves but overall rubbish. Also, I figured Steve harvey was a man who supported women but he applauds the fact that his wife gave up two things she really enjoys because it bothered him....I am assuming in their relationship that works but in the book it comes off as unfair. If you’re in a social setting with many visitors, try to memorize their names when introduced (this one is hard but very helpful); If you decide you would like to improve the way you comport yourself maybe you could reflect on his comments.

Taking care of your own well-being is just as important because if you forget to help yourself, you won’t be able to help others.Overdressing, wearing too much makeup, or wearing too many jewelry pieces can make you look like you’re trying too hard to impress.
