About this deal

When her parents died, she was put in an orphanage with her brother. He was adopted as a baby, and she never saw him again. We do not know if her brother was older, younger or her twin. But it is possible she had a twin, as this is a recurring pattern in the books. Elle was blonde, blue eyed and pretty. Pip compared her to a rose against Karine’s dark gypsy look. She was jewish, just like Karine, but she did not look it.

Erik Edvardson at the Ibsen Museum was my first port of call. It was he who told me that Ibsen had asked Grieg to write the incidental music for his poem and showed me the original photographs from the production of Peer Gynt. Then he told me about Solveig’s ‘ghost voice’, whose real identity is still unknown to this day. This gave me the key to the ‘past’ story. The whole historical perspective of Norwegian life in the 1870s came from Lars Roede at the Oslo Museum. Auch Norwegen wurde einem hier so schön beschrieben wie Brasilien im ersten Teil. Dieses Buch spielt dabei sogar auf 3 Zeitebenen und nicht nur auf 2 ⏳ By the way – this whole “death of Pa Salt” needs its own post as there are SO many points to discuss here. It was totally orchestrated and planned. But WHY, and is he dead – or not? Is it possible he was not yet in 2007, but will be by the time Merope is found? Ok, I really need to plan in a post on this topic before I trail off entirely. Atlantis, June 2007A final little adjustment to the whole theory: it could also be that Elle/Mrs. Tanit has only been posing as Pa’s lover this entire time, while being his sister in truth. It is said Elle and her brother were separated in Paris when they were kids, which makes this theory plausible. Also, it would give free way to the Elle + Kreeg Eszu theory, making him the father of her mysterious lost child. On the other hand: according to the myth, Zeus fancies Taygete in particular but she manages to escape his romantic approaches, while he does succeed in impregnating Maia. Exactly wat happens in the books, with the younger Zed Eszu taking on Zeus’ shenanigans. Pa even states to Electra that the man is dangerous to them. Could it be Zed embodies the god’s naughty side, while his father stands for his more noble deeds?

Harrison’s fully imagined world has conviction, and the perils of the story are lightened by the warmth and spirit of its characters’ The Sunday Times

We meet Anna Landvik at her parents farm in 1875, before she goes to Oslo to sing Solveig’s voice in Peer Gynt at Christiania Theatre. She is only 18 years old, and sent to stay with Franz Bayer, a smart big city man with a large mustache, in his mid 50’s. He is a pianist and music teacher at the University of Christiania and arrange her role as in the play. I hope you enjoy getting to know the seven sisters in this series, each of them different and remarkable in their own way. Just like in life, you're bound to identify with a particular sister more than the others, but that's the part of the fun. And some sisters might even surprise you . . . Is this proof that Bo and Elle were Mr and Mrs Tanit, and that they were actually not married? They had both learned Norwegian. The chart maker was German (which they also could speak).Ally has also recently embarked on a deeply passionate love affair that will change her destiny forever. But with her life now turned upside down, Ally decides to leave the open seas and follow the trail that her father left her, which leads her to the icy beauty of Norway...
