About this deal

Giant Dogfish (or Whale) Fountain – This was a favorite for my kids. You can walk out into the pond to go inside the mouth or take the stairs to walk on top of its head! Strollers – You can visit the entire park with your stroller. There is a wheelchair accessible path that you can use. I was able to go everywhere with a double stroller. The only issue I had was exiting – the elevator was too small for our large stroller. Someone had to help us carry it up a couple of flights of stairs. MonrifNet (19 November 2010). In the first half of the 19th century, a young boy named Carlo Lorenzini, originally from Florence, spent stretches of his childhood living here with relatives, and later, when he became a writer, he took Carlo Collodi as his pen name. He wrote political essays and satire for adults, and then, in his 50s, turned his attention to children. The Story of a Puppet first appeared in serial form, starting in 1881, in Giornale per i bambini, the Children’s Newspaper. Its opening paragraph was meant to undermine the traditional idea of a fairy tale—and also to send a political message: The Adventures of Pinocchio, Carol Della Chiesa, transl.; Attilio Mussino, illustr., Illuminated books, 1926, archived from the original on 2006-05-02 {{ citation}}: CS1 maint: others ( link). The novel's most faithful big-screen adaptation is a spellbinding Italian film from 2019, written and directed by Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah), and featuring Roberto Benigni as Geppetto. (In 2002, Benigni played Pinocchio in a film he directed himself, even though he was 50 at the time.) For Garrone, Pinocchio is a chronicle of fatherly love, rural poverty and dusty Tuscan scenery. For the co-director of del Toro's version, Mark Gustafson, Pinocchio is "a creation story" about a work of art taking on a life of its own, separate from its creator. "As an artist," Gustafson tells BBC Culture, "you make something, you think you know what you're making, and you put it out in the world, and then maybe it doesn't get the reaction you wanted. But in a way that's a good thing. You want to shake things up. That's the ideal creation." Szalai, Georg (August 31, 2022).
