About this deal

Yorkshire is the largest county in England and is often described as ‘God’s own country.’ It has a wonderfully diverse range of habitats from rugged moors and rolling dales, to salt marshes and sea cliffs, making this a great place to go for wildlife photography.

Moving a tripod forward along with your lens and yourself while remaining low to the ground is hard work, so a better option is to use a bean bag or even just rest the foot of the lens directly on the ground. Home to the famous abbey, Whitby is one of the best spots for photography in Yorkshire. Despite being a very walkable town, there are a lot of things to do in Whitby. Most of these things (such as the 199 steps) are also super cool photo spots. This is one of my favourite subjects, and in early spring I can often be found lying by the river at sunrise hoping to capture a dipper hunting for its breakfast. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is not always the easiest place to take pictures, but it can be just as rewarding as anywhere else, and when you find the right spots, the views are stunning. From the mountains in the west to the limestone in the south to the gritstone in the east to the old mines in the north, the Yorkshire Dales has something for everyone and a lot to offer visitors at any time of the year. It is at either end of the day when they are usually most active, as well as throughout the night. As such, the best times to be looking for hares is an hour or two either side of sunrise and sunset, although in my experience dawn is often the most productive time for photography.

Below I will detail a few of my favourites, the main species, and the seasonal highlights. 7. Staveley Nature Reserve It’s not all about “big in the frame” portraits though, so when the surroundings or lighting conditions are suitable try experimenting with different styles of images, with the hare placed off to one side small in the frame.

Endless Photo Opportunities

From up above, you can use small areas of limestone pavement as a foreground to views of the dramatic amphitheatre of the cliffs beyond. It only takes a hint of cloud-diffused light to enhance an already moody scene.
