About this deal

Ensure the TX-55DX600’s noise reduction systems are turned off when watching good-quality HD and all 4K sources too, to stop them potentially starting to look soft. The Panasonic JZ1500B is an excellent TV that makes Panasonic’s top picture performance more affordable than ever before. Its rich but natural colours are a particular highlight, and it's brilliantly detailed and sharp, with excellent motion handling to boot. programme guide matching the selected genre will be highlighted. Guide Search: Displays searching options. Using these options, you can search the programme guide database in accordance with the selected criteria. Matching results will be listed. Now: Displays current event of the highlighted channel. Zoom: Highlight and press OK to see events in a wider time interval. Now/Next Schedule In this layout option, only the current and next events of the listed channels will be displayed.

maturity level is disabled, prohibits access to the broadcast. General TV Operation Using the Channel List The TV sorts all stored stations in the channel list. You can edit this channel list, set favourites or set active stations to be listed by using the Channels menu options. Press the OK button to open the channel list. You can filter the listed channels or make advanced changes in the current list using the Filter and Edit tab options. Highlight the tab you want and press OK to see available options. From my efforts I’d make the following recommendations. First, never use the Intelligent Frame Creation (IFC) motion compensation processing on a setting higher than Minimum, or pictures become plagued by digital processing artefacts. Next, make sure the HDMI Output setting is on Mode 2 if you’re attaching an Ultra HD Blu-ray player – thankfully, my test set defaulted to this setting. Energy consumption XYZ kWh per year, based on the power consumption of the television operating 4 hours per day for 365 days. The actual energy consumption will depend on how the television is used. None of these limitations come as much of a surprise given the TX-55DX600B’s affordability, though, and needn’t necessarily stop it being a great value TV. LZ800: The LZ800 is Panasonic’s cheapest OLED in 2022 and as such, is the least well-specced. The panel is of the basic OLED variety, while Cinema Surround replaces Cinema Surround Pro. HDMI 2.1 features are still supported, however, as are Dolby Atmos, Filmmaker mode, Dolby Vision IQ and Auto AI picture processing.

Panasonic is keen to push the gaming credentials of its televisions in 2022 and its improved Game Mode Extreme is supported across the whole of the OLED lineup. The various entries all include HDMI 2.1 ports that support key gaming features including 4K@120Hz, High Frame Rate and Variable Refresh Rate. LZ1500: Like the LZ2000, the 55in and 65in models of the LZ1500 feature a Master OLED Pro panel and Dynamic Cinema Surround Pro, though they miss out on Panasonic’s Luminance Booster technology and don’t have quite as impressive an audio system. The 48in and 42in variants have basic OLED configuration panels, less impressive speaker setups and different stands but will of course cost rather less. There are no plastic panels in the box for hiding the connections (some of which face to the left-hand side of the set while the others face down) and the cable tidy system is nothing more than an inelegant clip-on piece of plastic, but that’s all part of Panasonic’s fuss-free approach.

For gamers there’s a bespoke Game Mode to reduce input lag for a faster gaming experience. However, there’s none of the more advanced features such as VRR needed for PS5 and Xbox Series X in case that’s of interest. There is, however, one part of its picture quality make-up that sets alarm bells ringing: its use of an IPS-type LCD panel. Past experience has shown that while such panels deliver a slight boost in terms of viewing angles over the more common VA panel types, they also suffer with substantially poorer contrast. This is likely to become more of an issue now that people are starting to expect their TV pictures to look increasingly bright. Switching to the brilliant (and brilliantly testing) Blade Runner 2049 in HDR10, the Panasonic’s way with colours continues to be one of its greatest strengths. The neon signs and holographic adverts aside, this film has a delicate and carefully considered colour balance that’s easily spoiled by exaggeration, but the JZ1500B digs up the subtle rosiness of K’s skin and pumps those neons up in attention-grabbing fashion without altering the generally grimy and pallid approach. Colour Tuner Gamut Mapping Opens colour tuner settings. Set the Colour Tuner as Enabled to adjust the Hue, Colour and Brightness values manually. You can use this option to set the range of colours displayed on your TV screen. When set as On, colours are set according to the source signal. When set as Off, the TV’s maximum colour capacity is used by default (recommended option). Note: This option may not be available depending on the TV model and its features.

LX800: The only LCD TV announced for a UK release, the LX800 swaps out the My Home Screen OS for Android TV. The experience is geared towards smart operation, with Chromecast built-in and Google’s voice assistant accessible directly from the TV’s remote. The speaker units have been upgraded from last year’s model so should be able to take better advantage of the set’s support for Dolby Atmos. The 43in and 50in models miss out on Panasonic’s HDR Cinema Display panel found on the larger screen sizes. The LZ980 will be available in a new 42in screen size, while the LZ800 shares the same 42in, 48in, 55in and 65in options as the model above it. Only the LZ1000 remains unchanged, with just 55in and 65in screen sizes available. Replacing the HX600 from 2020, the new JX600 is available in two sizes (50- and 43-inch), and aims to appeal to film fans, TV watchers and gamers.LZ980: Available in four screen sizes, the LZ980 uses Panasonic’s premium processor but makes do with the basic OLED panel configuration. It includes almost all of the other features found on the LZ1000, but gets a stand that doesn’t swivel. HID (Human Interface Device Profile) compliant keyboards are available. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) compliant audio devices are available. The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by Panasonic Corporation is under license. The TX-55DX600 wears its 55-inch screen handsomely. Its angled-in silver screen frame is exceptionally trim, in keeping with the current fashion, while its centrally fixed stand can be mounted either way round, with its shiny legs straight out, or facing inwards to create an arc in front of the screen. I preferred the straight look – but it’s nice to have the choice. Important Instruction For your own safety read following instruction carefully before attempting to connect this unit to the mains supply. MAINS (AC) OPERATION The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code : 1 4 2 3 1. Green&Yellow (Earth) (if there is earth cable) 2. Blue (Neutral) 3. Brown (Live) 4. The JZ1500B does occasionally struggle in terms of clarity regardless of whether Surround is on or off, with some of the dialogue from the bombing run scene of Unbroken struggling to make itself heard above the din of the plane. Not only is it quiet, but it sounds a little hollow and synthetic, too. The “hit this one and the drinks are on me” line seems to have an exaggerated echo, for example. This isn’t a huge issue by any means, though, and the Panasonic otherwise delivers this scene with impressive punch and dynamics, and the tinkle of the smashed glass as it hits the metal floor of the bomber is strikingly sparkly.
