About this deal

Legionnaires – Many of the same issues one finds when going up against Intercessors, but leaning more towards melee specialists such as the Shriv-Talon or Champion that can easily outclass yours in combat. Saving your Faith points for Vengeful Strike can be the difference between winning or losing when up against ploys like Mutagenic Flesh . Otherwise save ploys such as Sanctified Rounds or Burning Wrath against non-Nurgle operatives. C The Sister Superior wears full Adepta Sororitas power armour and can wield a boltgun – the only member of the squad to have that honour. She has a range of wargear available to her (and, as you’ll see from her sprue, some fantastic hats), while her Lead by Example special rule lets her activate another Novitiate if she does something cool, like incapacitate an enemy. A good model to take and unlike the Penitent fire team in the Compendium, it isn’t tactically limiting like having half your kill team with no guns is. Novitiate Pronatus A Novitiate Superior with +1APL from the Dialogus can charge, fight with a power weapon, and shoot with a plasma pistol, then chain activate one of the aforementioned operatives with Lead By Example. This is a combo with frightening damage potential! Divine Shield (2 Faith Points) – The defensive version of Guiding Light. Retain a failed save as a normal save. From a purely mathematical perspective this is more useful than its offensive counterpart. The defense die pools of your average operative is automatically smaller than the die pools of your average ranged weapon as are the odds of success on individual die. Being able to automatically pass a save to prevent an operative from dying can swing a game.

Do you dream of dousing your enemies in righteous flames? Are you a die-hard convert to the Emperor? Is your armor made of faith? Then the Novitiates Kill Team may be the choice for you. Elliot: The Novitiates are a skill-based kill team who rely on divine acts to perform at their best. Their relatively average characteristics and 10-model count may at first seem tough to use, but with the right Acts of Faith , you can wield a team that punches far above its weight. Here are a few tips for getting the best out of this Adepta Sororitas kill team.

Mission actions are specific to the mission you are playing, and will be detailed by that mission’s briefing. Missions can be found here (Open Play mission) and here (Spec Ops Narrative missions). The Novitiate Superior is ably supported by a number of specialist squadmates who really could only find a place on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium. Take the Novitiate Exactor, the only “covert operative” in history to dual-wield neural whips.

Every Turning Point Novitiate teams gain 3 faith points to use on Acts Of Faith (AoF). Only one Act of Faith may be used per activation (friendly or enemy) with the exception of a few of them. Unflinching determination means Novitiate models within three inches and visible can reroll a defence dice when they get shot at. Pathfinders – Not an ideal match up. This team not only outnumbers you, but only needs two successful hits on any of its guns to kill your operatives. Stay close to Heavy Terrain, and absolutely don’t give them a shot unless you’re in a position to respond. Thanks to the Tac Ops available to this team they aren’t heavily incentivized to get close to you, so it’s on you to use your defensive Acts Of Faith, especially Blinding Aura , to stay alive and close the distance. On the fortunate side they’re rather delicate if you manage to get close, meaning you shouldn’t have to spend too many Faith or Command points to take them out once you’re into them. Save operatives such as the Penitent or Purgatus for an opportunity to trade up and overcome the numbers gap. CNovitiates come with a strong set of useful equipment, so strong in fact, that one item in particular was so good that it amounted to a team-wide reroll 1s to hit ability. This item had its cost doubled in a balance data-slate, but is that enough to give the rest of the inventory a chance to shine? The A+ and A tiers cover the majority of the game’s non-Compendium factions and most of these have been in a top 8 recently. Winning with these factions is very possible. The Novitiate Penitent, when whipped into a frenzy from the Novitiate Exactor, has a larger charge distance. Once you enter the Engagement Range of the first enemy, you can still continue the charge, you just can’t leave it. Tag numerous enemy operatives, then cause havoc with the Reap special rule and Absolution Through Destruction action. Even if the Penitent goes down, they’ve earned their redemption and then some!

The flamers on the Purgatus and the Mace of the Righteous on the Perceptor are Inferno weapons, so there is a reasonable number of Inferno weapons available. I would say making your selection for Novitiate’s is actually the toughest kill team roster to make choices from in the game. Along with this magnificent boxed set, you can also get dice sets for the two kill teams. Surely, the Chaos/Aeldari gods (delete as appropriate) will smile upon your rolls if you’re using the correct dice? The Corsairs dice have the symbol of the Eldritch Raiders on the ‘6’ ( Prince Yriel ’s buddies) while the Chaos Space Marines feature a Legionary helmet. You can use the Novitiate Reliquarius’ Plant the Icon action and the Condemnor’s Null Rod ability to make it difficult for enemy operatives to take control of contested objectives.I decided to put these two together because they basically go hand in hand. As I mentioned a majority of your operatives having auto pistols is the closest thing to a major hindrance this team has, and these two ploys combined is basically the equivalent of giving everyone a boltgun for the Turning Point. In the case of Eyes it also allows your Superior’s Plasma Pistol to be fired without range limitation. Obviously the downside here is having spend 2 CP per Turning Point you wish to employ these ploys in conjunction, but thanks to the extra CP of the new Critical Ops, AND your ability to lean on AoF for things like Command Re-Rolls you should be able to conserve your CP for the appropriate moment to maximize either of these ploys.
