About this deal

Why waste time compensating wagons when you can waste time trying to avoid it? Dave Reynolds shows you how. Touching on the more sombre events that were in everyones minds at the time, Martyn Welch's editorial was a typically thoughtful and reflective piece of writing Bob Essery and Don Field on wagon suspension for the 7mm/ScaleSeven Dewsbury project, using the recently-developed Slater's system. Floorboards, battens, beams, branches and boles - indeed timber of every description once rode the rails. Stephen Duffell, a qualified pathologist, examines the use of microscope cover slips for glazing coaches.

Brian Williams choses a Malcolm Mitchell kit of the GWR 45XX as a first exercise in etched kit building. Hurst Models etched/cast 4mm kit ZZV independent snowplough. MJT Scale Components 4mm scale LNER/Pullman gangways. Talbot of Bath range of needle files that can be bent. Bachman RTR wagons. Branchlines 1833 Mashima motor; compensated chassis for Dapol/Airfix railbus. Studio Scale Models GNR(I) brake van kit now has ready curved brass roof. Gladiator Models 7mm kit Class A1 (LNER B8) Glenalmond 4-6-0. Derek Ascot 7mm detailing parts. While Bob Hetherington was getting on with constructing his P4 layout, he decided to make himself a small coal depot, but ended up with something a little larger. This is what Gerry Beale himself said some years later on the subject whilst recalling the late Bernard Wright in a discussion on the "most inspirational people in model railways" on RMweb in April of 2008: The Preview Issue, pictured at right, contained an enticing mix of subjects. A relative newcomer to modelling, John Watson, described his very appealing P4 model of Laxfield on the Mid Suffolk Light Railway, whilst the irrepressible Iain Rice described the construction of a "be-rivetted drudge" for his fictional "East Suffolk Light Railway".

Captain William Francis Peek Kelly was well-bred, wealthy and a friend of some of the most famous names in the development of our hobby. His closest associate was G. P. Keen, one of the leading lights in the Model Railway Club. Yet compared to Keen, whose name is chiselled into the history of the hobby, the secretive Kelly barely made a footnote. Michael Shaw has found out more about an extraordinary man. Photo taken at Huddersfield in the mid-1950s showing former L&Y Aspinall 2-4-2T No. 50757 shunting vans in the goods yard Shipley Model Railway Society member Frank Davies described how they built wire fencing for the Hungerford exhibition layout. He says 'Modellers who have limited patience should probably give this approach a miss, but for those of you who enjoy a challenge and have infinite patience then this approach may be the solution you are looking for.' Railways Illustrated occasionally if an article or two appeals but probably at least once every three months. The preview issue, pictured at right, contained an enticing mix of subjects.
