Entry-level rotary razors do seem to fare better with hairs that grow in different directions though. I’ve been using electric shavers exclusively for the past 20 years and have tried pretty much everything in terms of technique and electric shavers. And that’s because a travel shaver will be used sparingly while I’m traveling, so it won’t get nearly as much use as my main, regular shaver. First of all, if your budget is limited, there are more affordable options below, like the Series 8 or the Panasonic Arc 4. So these would be in my opinion the main things to keep in mind when choosing an electric shaver for traveling.

And while I do think one’s expectations should be realistic — these are compact, less-advanced razors — you should still be able to get a decent shave. The Panasonic ES-CV70 is currently my travel razor of choice and for my needs, it is clearly the best.First of all, I always find it much easier to shave using a shaver with a slimmer head. For example, I’ll have to do a lot of extra work using a Panasonic Arc 5 as opposed to a Braun Series 7. The latter has only 3 cutting elements and thus it’s a lot smaller and easier to maneuver compared to the 5 blade Panasonic. The Series 7 (and Braun razors in general) are also better than other foil razors at catching difficult facial hair, like the ones that stay flat on the skin or grow in different directions.
