About this deal

The expanding mandrel can accommodate different diameters of workpieces ranging from 0.5m to 2mm. This range can be increased with a change in brush size. Ring mandrels The collar mandrel is basically a lighter plain mandrel with two fixed collars attached at both ends. The fixed collars fit firmly on the workpiece. Generally, this mandrel is used for holding workpieces with diameters above 100 mm. Screwed Mandrel

Universal location spigot mount enables this ID workholding system to be easily moved from machine to machine as jobs require. Mandrels make the workpiece rotate around the center only, increasing the jobs’ accuracy. Without proper support of the workpiece, there’s a chance for the job operation (e.g., drilling, boring etc.) to fail. A solid mandrel is a cylindrical, tapered bar whose one side is larger in diameter than the other. It is the simplest type of mandrel generally available in most machine shops. It is also known as the plain mandrel. Mandrels are typically slightly tapered to provide support during machining, so a solid frictional grip between the mandrel and the hole wall is in place when pressed into a previously machined hole. The screwed mandrel has a fixed collar and an open threaded end to allow screwing threaded workpieces for machining purposes. This mandrel type is used when the inner part of the workpiece is threaded. Cone MandrelExpanding mandrels are especially useful when a workpiece requires secondary machining operations because these devices enable external diameters to be turned in a single operation, increasing concentricity between the two operations. They also prevent damage to previously machined surfaces, which is why expanding mandrels are often used on lathe sub spindles. The access they provide to a workpiece’s entire outer surface also makes them well-suited for use on lathes with live tooling. Hardinge is the expert in precise part length control, pioneering the Dead-Length 5C and 16C collets for high-production manufacturing. Our Sure-Grip Expanding Collet Systems feature built-in part length control with a double-angle design, ensuring precise workpiece lengths by securely locating them against the arbor face or a machineable work stop. This stability results in heavier cuts, improved surface finishes, and tighter tolerances, making it easy to machine long parts. We also offer custom Sure-Grip Collets for special spindle, sub-spindle, mill table, Swiss, and multi-spindle machine applications. You can even get splined or serrated surfaces for unique grips or recessed draw-plug styles for short gripping challenges. A great option for low/medium-volume production. For high-production environments, use the standard KEM series

Several forces act on the workpiece to make it deflect away from the center, which makes the usage of mandrels necessary. The Cone mandrel has a fixed cone at one end and a sliding cone at the other. The sliding cone has threads and can be adjusted or removed using a nut. This type of mandrel allows it to hold different sizes of workpieces between the two cones. Expanding Mandrel PTG produce and supply precision expanding mandrels capable of automatic clamping in component bores, achieving the highest accuracy and holding power to resist the cutting forces imposed on the work piece. Availability of multiple sleeves for work with greater length-to-diameter ratios, eliminating wobble and chatter. Mandrels also have specialized types and find their use in filament winding, the production of steel cores, and double-reed musical instruments. Why do we need Mandrels?Gang mandrel is similar to a step mandrel, except it allows multiple jobs to be machine simultaneously. Its ability to handle multiple workpieces simultaneously reduces the machining time and is thus used in mass manufacturing. Collar Mandrel
