About this deal

Add white chocolate chips (I get mine from Morrison’s) or a finely chopped good quality white chocolate bar (I love Lindt) and fold into the chocolate. Stir in white chocolate chunks (Dr Oetker) – these tend to keep their shape when baked so you have little chunks in the brownies. While an electric stand mixer is helpful in making these biscuits and saves a lot of time and energy, you don't need one to make them. You can absolutely make the biscuits by hand, or with a handheld electric whisk. Do you have to chill the dough?

Top with mini and large Jammie Dodgers, pressing them lightly into the batter. Bake for 35-40 minutes. if you’re still having trouble baking blondies, see my notes section at the bottom of this recipe for further tips on the baking and cooling process. I hope you love these blondies as much as I do! The brand is famous for its television adverts showing pyramids of chocolates on silver trays served up at a mysterious ambassador’s party.Once your shortbread has baked and cooled you can start making the caramel. If you haven’t made your own caramel before don’t worry. Just take it one step at a time. According to the makers of the famous Jammie Dodgers, Burton’s Biscuit Company in Wales, their biscuits were named after Roger the Dodger from the Beano comic. They have a bit of a celebrity following, including Matt Smith’s Doctor Who, comedian Harry Hill, the pop music star Labrinth, as well as the cast of The Only Way is Essex – famous biscuits indeed! Slide the Jammie Dodger blondies onto a serving board and slice them into 12 squares (in a pattern of 3 by 4).

They will last for 3 days and they are best stored in an airtight container in a cool place. Can the blondies be frozen? Once your tin of Jammie Dodger Blondies is cooked, you'll leave it to cool, then transfer it to the fridge to set overnight. This is, I know, a real trial of patience, but it will give you outrageously fudgy and tender blondies with perfectly crisp and shiny top - perfect for ice cream or on its own! For the full recipe with measurements, head to the recipe card at the end of this post. What is a blondie? I bake them in my oven on 160C Fan for 30-35 minutes until they are golden brown all over like in the photos. Using a skewer inserted in the centre doesn’t give a clear indication that they are done because blondies are meant to be gooey and almost a little under cooked. Blondies are the white chocolate version of brownies and they are not like cake. They will also set more as they cool down, wait until they are cool to remove them from the tin. I also recommend chilling them in the fridge for a couple of hours before removing them from the tin and slicing them. Can you make this recipe without Jammie Dodgers? You'll need to melt your butter in a bowl, so it makes more sense to add the ingredients to that bowl rather than transferring into a mixer.I love working with words, typography and design at my bakery, and I’m always thinking up new ways for our bakes to really communicate with the people who are about to eat them! I first had the idea of cutting words out of the dough (rather than the traditional heart shape) quite a few years ago. I had used alphabet cutters a lot to write icing messages on birthday and wedding cakes, and put two and two together one quiet Sunday morning while baking jammie dodgers at home, long before Bee’s Bakery was set up. Blondies are, of course, the white chocolate version of brownies… OMG have you made my Creme Egg Brownies yet? While the mixer is running on a low speed, add the flour one spoonful at a time until everything is incorporated. Don’t forget to scrape the sides to avoid any lumps forming. There's always a complete list of suggested equipment on the recipe card below my recipes if you're in doubt. I always include links to example products in the list to show exactly what I used to make each recipe. Do I need to use Jammie Dodgers in this recipe? When it comes to the actual baking, you’ve got to find that perfect balance. When I take the blondies out of the oven, the middle wobbles slightly. The whole tray shouldn’t wobble – but there should still be a bit in the middle as the blondies will continue to bake somewhat in the tin. A skewer test is hard, as jam or melted chocolate may come out on it – but there shouldn’t be any raw batter!

Bake for approximately 25 minutes until firm at the edges and a little under in the centre - it will continue to set as it cools. Freezer burn is sort of like cold evaporation. Water from food is drawn into the air around it, causing it to dry out and lose flavour. So if you have something like a jam layer on top, which has liquid in it, the food is more susceptible to freezer burn. Yes, you can freeze your Jammie Dodger Blondies. Just make sure to wrap them tightly in cling film or aluminium foil.Get your kids to help you spread jam on to the top of each ‘full’ biscuit. Then make a sandwich by placing the heart cut out biscuit on top. Cube the butter into a bowl and melt in the microwave or on the hob over a pan of water until just melted. Sure, why not! They will cook just like white chocolate, so it makes no difference apart from flavour and colour. Milk or dark chocolate chips could make for a nice contrast within the blondie batter. What goes well with Jammie Dodger Blondies?
