About this deal

What if a bunch of enemy warriors try to get up close and personal with your giant keytar? Well, you can unleash the power of a High Lord of Terra with Morvenn Vahl and her lance of illumination . I’m honestly not sure what I’d change about this Boarding Patrol box – it seems pretty solid to me. But we might as well go into a little depth on what we get to provide a bit of context on what they can do on the tabletop. The Adepta Sororitas are pretty well equipped with their favourite weapons*** but sometimes you need more than handheld firearms to spread the God-Emperor’s righteous word. What if you could bring deadly firepower and a church organ to battle… at the same time? Thanks to the Exorcist , you can rain down one of two different munitions, all while having a rousing sing-song in the name of the Golden Throne. Before making a dice roll for a model or a unit from your army with the Acts of Faith ability, if you have one or more dice in your Miracle dice pool, that unit can perform an Act of Faith. To do so, select one or more of the dice from your Miracle dice pool, instead of making any or all of those dice rolls. For each individual dice that is being rolled as part of the dice roll, you can select 1 Miracle dice from your Miracle dice pool to be substituted in place of that dice. The dice that it is being substituted for is not rolled, and instead the value of the selected Miracle dice is used as if it had been rolled. Each Miracle dice can only be selected for substitution once. Once all Miracle dice substitutions have been made, remove the chosen Miracle dice from your Miracle dice pool, and roll any remaining, unsubstituted dice that are a part of the dice roll. You can use Miracle dice when a unit performs an Act of Faith for any of the following types of dice roll:

As a Celestian, each Sacresant is a highly skilled warrior, able to overcome many times her own number in battle. Sacresants wield a variety of blessed polearms and maces with which to smite the unclean, and bear large, ornate shields to ward off the blows of their enemies. Protected in both body and spirit, Celestian Sacresants are the wall against which waves of heretics will break.” Her statline is pretty decent, especially when she sits there with 8 wounds, so she will be very durable but hard to target. Also with base S5 and T5 she will deal some decent damage and be pretty durable. For one CP this is pretty sweet! You basically can guarantee for one dice and one CP, an automatic wound. Perfect if you need that Melta shot to go through! All your warriors are happy to die for the Emperor – and if not, some psycho-stimulants and invasive conditioning will surely change their minds – but those of the Hallowed Martyrs Detachment are particularly overjoyed to join the Golden Throne. As each squad takes casualties, The Blood of Martyrs sends them into a fervent frenzy.

Subfactions

New 40k rules for the Sisters of Battle Paragon Warsuit, Dogmata, and Celestian Sacresant makes purging heretics easier than before!

Canoness, Blessed Blade, Saint in the Making – Indomitable Belief, Litanies of the Faith, Blessing of the Faithful – Emperor’s Grace – 80 If every model in an INFANTRY unit is on or in an Area Terrain feature with this trait, then it can either Hold Steady or it can Set to Defend (see below) when an enemy unit declares a charge against it. A fair number of the relics from the last codex return unchanged, or with only minor tweaks – most confusingly, the Blade of Admonition is now a Crusade relic, but there’s an identical weapon in the regular relics section called the Blade of Saint Ellynor. There’s a mix here of buffs and nerfs; Wrath of the Emperor goes down to AP-1 and Litanies of Faith becomes once per battle round instead of once per turn, but the Iron Surplice now gives +1 wound on top of its previous effect. The Adepta Sororitas are great at spreading their faith in close combat, courtesy of units such as Celestian Sacresants , but they truly excel at medium range, where they can unleash the full power of the bolter, flamer, and meltagun. The Hallowed Martyrs Detachment even offers a Stratagem that lets them fire in your opponent’s Shooting phase. The fearsome Dogmatas uphold righteousness among their fellow Sisters, and while we’ve seen just why their allies fear and respect them in equal measure, it’s worth knowing that their enemies have just as much reason to stay away from these exceptional warriors.

Sisters of Battle Celestian Sacresants & Palatine Points

Once you’ve rolled your Miracle dice and built up a nice pool, it’s time to perform some Acts of Faith. Rounding out your buff choices, the Hospitaller looks good – they’ve lost the inbuilt ability to resurrect models (moved to a stratagem) but gained an Apothecary-style 6+ feel no pain aura for INFANTRY. There are a massive number of buff characters competing for your points, but the Hospitaller is definitely on the list if you’re going wide, and can be a good place to put the Book of St. Lucius. Celestians The Castigator differs from its Adeptus Astartes equivalent in that it also sports a third, hull-mounted heavy bolter and either a twin-barreled autocannon or battle cannon as its turret weapon. That’s some serious firepower right there. Heretics – you’ve been warned!

models that almost never saw the table in 9th return as another Leader unit, Aestred Thurga and Agathae Dolan . You may remember them as the new Banner Lady and the named Dialogus. They are basically entirely reworked from what they did before. Now while Aestred Thurga (Banner) is leading a unit, that unit’s melee weapons gain DEVASTATING WOUNDS, which is cool. If Agathae Dolan is alive, when the unit performs an Act of Faith, the result of the Miracle Dice is improved by 1 to a max of 6. This has some crazy synergy with making saves for say a Celestian Sacresant unit or using a Miracle Dice of 5 to proc DEVASTATING WOUNDS. They can join Battle Sisters, Celestian Sacresants, Dominions, or Retributors. Another more niche tech piece, could have some cool builds here. Each Paragon Warsuit is equipped with enough firepower to rival a Dreadnought of the Adeptus Astartes. The warsuit’s left arm is outfitted with a heavy bolter, heavy flamer, or multi-melta, which is augmented by a shoulder-mounted secondary weapon system in the form of a grenade launcher or pair of storm bolters. For melee opponents, the warsuit’s pilot wields a large war blade with which to hew through her enemies or an enormous mace designed to crush even the largest skulls in a single blow.

The Emperor’s Grace is also a great buy for 20pts – your model heals d3 wounds at the start of each of your Command phases, and then once per game, for any CORE or CHARACTER unit that is within Miracle range, an opponent cannot re-roll hits, wounds, or Damage rolls. This is a powerful ability to have available, especially since Paragon Warsuits are CORE – a Canoness babysitting a set of these and turning off re-rolls on turn 1 or 2 can potentially keep them alive and firing a turn longer. With the right Miracle dice in reserve, even the most unlikely roll can become a surefire thing. Is it really an Act of Faith if, by definition, you know exactly what the result will be? The Sororitas certainly think so, and they have very big guns, so that’s good enough for us. The Ebon Chalice get not one but two active Sacred Rites, which is a reasonably big win when you consider that there are two fantastic melee options in the shape of Hand of the Emperor and The Passion and you can now take both. Additionally, when you use an Act of Faith, you can first discard a Miracle dice; the dice you then use for the Act is automatically counted as a 6. You are likely to have fewer Miracle dice than before, but this is definitely helpful for making sure that you’ve got a 6 on hand whenever you need one. Stratagem – Cleansing Flames – 1CP

For 1CP, you can ignore any or all negative hit modifiers in either the Shooting or Fight phases. Probably the most significant place this is going to come into effect now is for Retributors, which no longer ignore the move and shoot penalty with Heavy weapons naturally, but may also come into play for Repentia. In general this has been way less relevant in 9th, so it’s nice to see it given broader use cases. Warlord Trait – Impervious to Pain

Hymns of Battle

When an even greater defensive wall is needed, look no further than the shield-carrying Celestian Sacresants and their Ecclesiarchal comrades in the Crusaders. Both blessed with powerful shields and trained to hold the line at any cost, using Inviolate Shieldwall will see bullets, bolts, and las blasts peel off them like rainwater. Paragon Warsuit Rules Warhammer Community unveiled the newest installment of the Battle Sister Bulletin in the form of a new elite close combat unit. Where the Repentia Squad uses pure hatred in battle, the new unit contains some of the most elite fighters the Sisters have to offer. They use giant halberds, maces, and shields to destroy the enemy. For those looking for a bigger close combat-focused force, these new minis are sweet!
