At around six acres in size, Churchill (Lake 5) is a rectangular water with a peninsula and a small island which provide features to fish to. This area surrounding this lake has earned great reputation worldwide because of its beautiful landscapes. These lakes are present in a beautiful forest that is over 370 acres. Thus, providing this lake a vibrant and peaceful environment. Structure The specimen lake has 40 well spaced pegs each consisting of a gravel or bark topped wooden platform, easily large enough to accommodate two rod pods. The pegs are so well spaced there is easily room to add a similar number of additional pegs in future. The lakebed contains a variety of soil structures, like gravel, sand and light mud. The water depth isn’t constant and it lies in between 3 and 11ft. Therefore, at the area of deeper depths rowing boats will prove beneficial. Surroundings The depth of the lakes ranges from 3 to 11ft. and the lake beds contain gravel and stones. The lake contains 6 large swims that contain fishes of different weights. The fishes weigh from 30 to 40 lbs. With the biggest catch so far was 50 lbs. 50 lbs weight put this lake in mind when looking for carp fishing in France. Lake A little bit further up the dirt road from Bovington 1, Bovington 2 is very much the same in character apart from being a bit bigger at about 5 acres. It has about the same level of difficulty but the fish do seem to be bigger in this lake so I would say that it is home to more 20lb fish and a couple more 30’s, and one definite 40 pounder. Most popular baits on Kingfisher are Ringers 4mm-6mm ‘bag-up’ pellets, yellow sweetcorn and pop-up sweetcorn fished a couple of inches off the bottom and luncheon meat. Obviously, maggots and casters also work well although maggots can tend to attract the smaller fish which can be a nuisance until you attract the larger specimens into your swim. Lots of double-figure fish Billing Aquadrone is a venue that has something for all the family as there’s something for the kids around the lakes.

The specimen lake has already produced carp to 32lb so it won’t be long before they are tipping the magic 40lb mark. Elysium also contains over 250 catfish to 60lb+ with the average size already around the 20lb to 30lb mark. Faraway Lake is the more challenging of the two and is about 4 acres in size. It is home to about 100 carp, 15 of them go to over 30lb. Both lakes are set in nice grounds and are beautifully mature surrounded by overhanging trees and reed beds.

Lake One - Kingfisher

At around 14 acres in size Layer Pits is set amongst the countryside of Layer-de-la-Haye on the outskirts of Colchester. This place is home to loads of mid doubles and 20lb carp with a few 30’s, and also a 40 I believe. A fairly easy water if you get your tactics right and get yourself on the fish. They love their bait and they love to hear the sound of a dinner bell spod ringing. In the northwest of France, Grands Prés is located in the region of Champagne Ardenne. This lake covers the 35-acres of area and lies within the comfortable travel distance from Reims.

Although this is primarily a match fishing venue its gaining a good reputation as becoming a great carp fishing location. This lake has 3 swims where a maximum of 4 anglers can fish. Plus, the two lakes have fine specimens of Mirrors, Commons and Grass Carp so you will be able to fish various carps. In the woods of Northern France, you will find the complex of 20 lakes. It’s only a 3.5-hour drive away from Calais. The name “Bel Eaux – Belsaules” means “the domain of beautiful waters”.

The biggest fish to have come out of Heron so far was a 20lb-plus mirror carp taken from Peg 17 on waggler fished pellet whilst the average size of the commons and mirrors is generally between 5lbs and 14lbs. Heron is again popular on both the pole and the waggler with anglers occasionally fishing a feeder, bomb or method feeder. Although smaller than Churchill, depths still reach as much as 16ft in the far right hand corner looking at the lake from the car park, whilst most of the rest of the lake averages six feet. Majority of the swims throughout the lake feature picnic tables with power outlets of 220-volt, freezer and a fridge.

Laclecurie Lakes

his understated manner Lee is an incredibly hard working and down right obsessive individual. He channels that so well through his fishing and work on the fishery and the results show for themselves. This lake is considered as the most challenging lake and is designed specially for carp anglers. The lakes originally have a depth of 3 meters and the lakebed is mainly composed of light mud, clay and small amounts of sand and gravel. These lakes are located 3 miles from Parthenay and are only 300 yards away from each other. Plus they are situated just outside a small village named Vienay which can make your carp fishing in France experience truly remarkable. For ease, you can opt to land at Poitiers – Biard Airport as it is quite near to the estate. Surroundings As with the other waters at Celtic Lakes Resort, Churchill has been designed so that every peg has a feature to fish to without anglers needing to worry about crossing other anglers’ lines. The margins have also been heavily planted with reeds and irises to provide cover during the warmer months. This lake is present in the charming landscape of the French Morvan, which is famous for its beautiful hills, greenery, vast lakes and mountains.
