About this deal

The plug-in hybrid Tonale Q4 is the most powerful variant in the range, producing 271bhp all-in and offering all-wheel drive. The 1.3-litre petrol engine under the bonnet sends its power to the front wheels, while the single electric motor fed by a 15.5kWh battery drives the rears. Former McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl has been appointed as managing director to lead the team into its new era while Alessandro Alunni Bravi has been appointed team representative. According to Alfa Romeo, the Tonale Q4 can cover up to 42 miles on electric power alone, or 50 miles if you’re just driving around town. The plug-in Tonale can also return up to 217mpg while emitting 29-32g/km of CO2, which is how it attracts the same eight per cent Benefit-in-Kind tax rate as the latest BMW X1 PHEV, and well below the 14 per cent BiK rate for the equivalent XC40.

We decided to change the rear suspension, so also the gearbox casing and that then opens the door to new cooling layouts, which themselves once in place, allowed us to develop the bodywork in ways that last year was not possible," technical director Jan Monchaux said. Offering up more details, he continued: “In effect, we decided to change the rear axis, redoing the rear suspension, and therefore the gearbox casing, which then opens the door to new layouts, especially on the [cooling] side, which once in place allowed us to develop the bodywork. Upgrade to the Veloce and this brings the styling upgrades we’ve already mentioned, as well as a limited-slip differential to enhance the driving experience. Electric front seats are added, along with a power tailgate. The experts at Euro NCAP gave the Tonale the full five stars for safety – the same as all the rivals. It comes with adaptive cruise control that can read road signs and alter your speed accordingly, and lane-keep assist with lane centring that’s said to work even at low speeds in traffic. Then, evidently, all the rear-end work we see with the floor, alongside the new regs… so we’ve really been putting a lot of effort on the second part of the car, while the front will be successively developed during the season.

GIULIA SPRINT: A tribute to the brand's sporting DNA, it is equipped with active cruise control and a leather sports steering wheel. It is available with petrol or diesel engines of 190 or 200 hp. The livery was designed by Alfa Romeo in Turin as the team's partnership with the Italian car manufacturer enters its final year this season. From 2026, the Sauber team will be majority owned and run by Audi. He signed off: “The [new] car hasn’t run yet, so reliability is perfect! I assume it will stay as this. Touch wood, but I’m fairly confident we have left these issues behind us.” Last year – during the season – it was not possible, and the concept we had followed last year, we were of the opinion that [it] had come to a sort of plateau, and to unleash the next level of performance, we had to do all those changes that have been quite a journey for us, because it’s a big, big, complex part we had to re-do.The ALFA ROMEO GIULIA is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission with 2 or 4-wheel drive, combined with a selection of seven petrol or diesel engines. It is available in 5 different finishes: Alongside Alfa Romeo’s quest for performance, Monchaux added that reliability has also been a focus for the squad ahead of the new campaign, having seen points go begging on several occasions in 2022 due to component failures. GIULIA SPECIALE: elegant, it is equipped with a leather steering wheel and a 25W Bi-Xenon light signature. It is available with petrol or diesel engines of 160, 190 or 200 hp.
