About this deal
Built into any of the premium Oral-B brushes is a timer, this is the bit of technology that makes sure you brush for the right amount of time, the required 2 minutes. To switch cleaning modes you must have the brush powered on. You cannot press the cleaning mode button to cycle through them before powering the brush on. I do think this is a poor design choice, as preferably you would select the cleaning mode before applying toothpaste and water to the brush head.
The Oral-B Smart 6 6000 links to the Oral-B App via bluetooth connectivity. This turns it into a smart electric toothbrush. The Oral-B App allows you to: Cleverly, the brush will too automatically reduce the head speed and stop the pulsation until the pressure is reduced. It is also worth noting, whilst it is perfectly possible to share a brush handle, the handle can not differentiate between 2 users, so your data synced to the app will be wrong. The Oral-B Smart 6 6000 comes with an in handle 2 minute timer that single buzzes every 30 seconds to let you know when to change area of your mouth. This is handy as it informs you when the 2 minutes are up without needing a connection to your smartphone. After 2 minutes the brush head will double buzz to differentiate it from the 30 second buzzes. Visible Pressure Sensor and SmartRingThe power button is illuminated whilst the cleaning mode has a grey coloured arrow that points down. If you’re not bothered with the whole idea of apps and smart toothbrushes, then the iO Series 3 is amazing value and, arguably, the best brush in Oral-B’s whole range. It boasts the same magnetic drive technology as the other brushes in Oral-B’s flagship iO-Series range, but comes without the advanced sensors and Bluetooth connectivity to monitor your brushing and send the data to your smartphone. In practice, that means a quieter brush with a more comfortable vibration, and one that still leaves your incisors feeling polished and your molars super-clean, as well as doing a fantastic job of clearing plaque from between your teeth. Whilst a toothbrush plays a vital role in oral hygiene the routine and way in which you clean does too. This app makes it easy to see and represent in real-time just how good, or bad you are doing. A clever feature which does save power and potentially assists with the cleaning time is that on a Philips or Colgate brush, the brush motor will switch itself off at the end of the clean. A simple feature that just works, no such feature exists on the Smart 6.
The brush should need no real ongoing maintenance. As a moulded brush with a virtually all in one design, a rinse and a wipe down is all that is needed. Should something go wrong, there is as standard a 24 month warranty; this covers the battery too. Powered by 2 AA batteries it could sit on a shelf or attach to a wall with an adhesive pad and was a small unobtrusive addition to the kit that worked well. It does nothing more than what the app does, but I believe a very convenient solution to encourage better cleaning when the app is not in use. Sadly it is not included. A point to note is if you owned one of the older models that included a smart guide, the Smart 6 does work with it. I tried the Smart 6 from the guide that came with the SmartSeries 6000, it worked straight away.In the lower third of this front panel is a Bluetooth icon, a battery icon made up of 3 bars and then finally the Oral-B and Braun logos. We like to offer up a figure for what we believe to be an average cost of ownership of this toothbrush. So I present an example here based on the more typical ‘average’ price. Be aware this will fluctuate, but it at least gives you an idea.
