About this deal

The Mavic 3 series has 2 obstacle avoidance sensors on the bottom of the drone plus auxiliary lights to aid in landing during low-light situations. DJI Mavic 3 Cine supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422 LT and H.264/H.265 encoding, while Mavic 3 only supports H.264/H.265 encoding. The Mavic 3 is a nimble drone that’s much more responsive in flight than its Mavic 2 predecessors. In this respect, it's actually more like the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. The controls are simply much more sensitive in both Normal and Sport Modes, while Cine Mode offers reduced control sensitivity and speed for smoother flights and more cinematic video footage. We are, quite literally, one step closer to an APS-C size sensor and just two steps away from full frame. Heaven alone knows how good that would be but I personally don’t think us mere mortals would be able to tell much difference. For me, this is as good as I want it to be. The Mavic 3 series is clearly aimed at professional drone pilots, given its pricing. This is why, in my opinion, DJI should have continued using the GO 4 app. Maybe Hasselblad's HNCS technology is so accurate that there isn't a need to delve into the different types of White Balance settings including Sunny, Cloudy, and Incandescent. But what if I decided I wanted to shoot in Shutter or Aperture Priority mode? Why does DJI's Phantom 4, which was released over five years ago warrant these sophisticated photography settings compared to a drone that costs substantially more?

We’re told the Mavic 3 Pro (or, perhaps, the Pro 3/3 Pro), will feature 8K video resolution. To us, this makes perfect sense, given that the original Mavic Pro, released in late September 2016, had 4K resolution and the AIR 2S has 5.4K resolution. It was also a radical – and we do mean radical –change to the form factor. The Phantom style was ubiquitous at that point, so you can imagine just how revolutionary this was at the time. A phenomenal piece of engineering. An evolution The 5,000 mAh battery’s theoretical limit of 46 minutes flight is attention-grabbing (31 was the previous limit), and we found nearly every one of them in our testing. More flight time is extremely useful in terms of positioning for a shot, and will working in teams much easier, reducing the extent the drone operator delays production with battery issues. The Mavic 2 already had the jump on the Inspire 2 here –this is a leap. When it comes to controllers, except for the Mavic 3 Pro Cine Premium Bundle, which is only available with the DJI RC Pro, you can choose between the DJI RC and DJI RC Pro. Both are smart controllers featuring 5.5-inch touchscreens – the RC Pro is slightly larger, 43% heavier and offers up to four hours of battery life compared to three and a brighter screen. Both are excellent overall. The Pro model offers many more features, including a stronger signal, but it’s much more expensive. DJI Mavic 3 Pro: Features and flight But more than that, it was the beginning of a new way of thinking around form and function. The Mavic Pro was immensely more portable than the Phantom line, folding down to a really compact size. It also had better flight time, and a much smaller and innovative controller. And while that controller may look slightly dated now against the current crop (Mavic AIR 2, AIR 2S controllers), it was really compact, and got the job done. Branching out Aside from its ability to produce staggeringly sharp visuals in broad daylight, one of the very best things about this new camera is that it can shoot in really low-light conditions with very little image degradation. I tried it out in a number of lighting conditions and I genuinely can’t think of anything negative to say – its ability to reproduce a scene in such rich detail left me speechless. Strangely, DJI says that while the existing DJI Mavic 3 will remain on sale, it won't be producing that drone any more. This explains why the DJI Mavic 3 Pro's pricing is similar to the Mavic 3. That was the beginning. And, though the Mavic name may be fading from DJI’s product line, the product line most of us will always identify as “Mavic” is not. A fast review

There is no optical zoom lens either; operation of the zoom is through software and the system switches from one camera to the other at the appropriate moment, like a multi-lens mobile phone, though somewhat less fluidly. In Explorer Mode you typically tap through zoom multiples; 1x, 2x, 4x, 7x (the optical ratio of the zoom in comparison to the main one), 14x, 28x. Predictably the 28x option, dependant as it is on a lot of digital help, is not exactly sharp. Perhaps some softness would come from gimbal vibration at this zoom level, digital 28x isn’t going to provide the clarity a paparazzo might be hoping for.

APAS 4.0 is not available while recording 4K/48fps, 4K/50fps, 4K/60fps, 2.7K/48fps, 2.7K/50fps, 2.7K/60fps and 1080p/120fps video. There’s no question that DJI is the global market leader for consumer and Enterprise drones, selling the commanding majority of products sold on the planet (somewhere between 70 and 80%). But DJI is also very watchful of competition, wanting to always stay ahead of the game. The folded dimensions of the Mavic 3 are 212×96.3x90.3mm, while its unfolded size is 347.5×283x107.7 mm. This makes it similar to the Mavic 2 Pro when folded, with the unfolded size being slightly larger.
