About this deal

This book started out GREAT! Tommy was a really fun MC, the set up was intriguing, and I was really liking Tommy and Gabe’s dynamic! And then it all came crashing down when it was revealed that Gabe has a boyfriend. 😐😐😐 And the story took a terrible turn. Suddenly, I was no longer having fun seeing these 2 rekindle their friendship/romance. I was just annoyed and honestly????? pretty disgusted with them.

Ahead of the song's release, Gomez wrote on Vevo that the song was about several life events. "This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album," she said. "I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself." The romance, well. It was as if I walked into my room after not cleaning it for two months. Usually I want the mains to end up together. Here, not necessarily. Did they end up together? Find out on your own–but I promise you're not gonna be disappointed with the outcome, no matter what you prefer. A lot of things in this book were messy; romance, relationships, life. It was so well-written, it felt completely natural. Because life in itself is a mess and Erik Brown knows how to encapsulate that fact. I read an eARC of All That’s Left In The World last year and i absolutely loved it, so of course i jumped at the chance to read this one and i’m so glad that i did! Lose You to Find Me absolutely exceeded my expectations in every way. This grittily provocative debut explores the horrors of self-harm and the healing power of artistic expression. After their final breakup, a source would tell Entertainment Tonight in August 2018 (Bieber and Baldwin were engaged then) that Gomez's friends didn't like Bieber. "Selena is such a catch, and her friends want her to be with someone who's worthy of her," the source said. "They really didn't like Justin and her together. He didn't appreciate what he had in her." You turned me down, and now it's showing

The story starts out very promising. It has all the cute yearning and awkward/adorable moments that make for a feel-good love story. However, the dynamic between the two love interests get very jumbled up after about a third of the way through. The situation continues to devolve for the remaining two thirds of the book. I do enjoy a fair bit of conflict to push relationships to evolve throughout a story, but after listening for multiple hours about the two screwing up and miss communicating the story started to fall flat. At one point towards the end the main character just got almost unbearable. I loved every second I spent with these characters and I am very much looking forward for another book by Erik! A romantic, heartfelt, and hilarious queer coming-of-age story from All That's Left in the World author Erik J. Brown, perfect for fans of What If It’s Us and If This Gets Out . It‘s crazy how my feelings towards Gabe changed. I loved him right from the start when we got to know him through Tommy‘s eyes but while he went through stuff and his pov changed, mine did as well and I love that this book could do this!

This story, like so many of B’s books, is relevant to so many women, and I love that she puts so much compassion and realness into what so many of us go through. And I also love that she put the man’s perspective into the story, as well. Again, just another reason why I respect B’s writing style so much. Erik’s a great YA storyteller, writing humorous and relatable characters just trying to figure themselves out during their senior year with college on the horizon. All the characters and their friendship were great. The growth and development - exceptional! Brad, who ignored me at school but searched me out at parties in hopes of this fleeting moment where he could be himself. Nothing begs for interpretation more than breakup songs released by celebrities going through intensely scrutinized breakups. And although Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber called it quits in March of 2018, Bieber's recent and lavish wedding to one Hailey Baldwin has left the public holding their breath for a comment from Gomez. Now, the wait is over, because "Lose You to Love Me" is here. The dancing could figuratively be their on-off relationship cycles. And leaving Bieber behind, as Gomez ultimately did in March 2018, may have been her way of reprioritizing herself over him. Us Weekly suggested, when Jelena's break was first reported, that Bieber's selfishness was why Gomez pulled the trigger. “[He] doesn’t care about anyone but himself," a source told the outlet that month. "The second she saw it, she walked away, especially now with her health. She knows she doesn’t need him.” Verse 2:Lose you to find me by B. Celeste is the 3rd book in the Linden University series and tells the story of Raine and Caleb. After surviving a suicide attempt, a fragile teen isn't sure she can endure without cutting herself. I applaud Erik J. Brown for 1. having the balls to NOT make the main romance of the book be the endgame, and 2. having the talent to make me love and root for Brad and Tommy despite rarely seeing them together until the last 10% of the book.
