About this deal

This is a fast-paced psychological thriller that kept me riveted. The dark, sinister characters were my favorite part of reading Jar of Hearts. There is an underlying element of creepiness throughout, which made me uneasy and kept me on my toes. There are some moments that are extremely disturbing (including a pretty descriptive rape scene), which resulted in me having to take reading breaks. This is the story of three best friends: one who was murdered, one who went to prison, and one who's been searching for the truth all these years . . ." IFPI" (in Czech). One murder, two best friends, and a secret that could tear everything apart! "Jar of Hearts," set in the shadowy depths of suburban Seattle, unravels the mystery that binds three inseparable friends. When Angela Wong, one of the most popular girls in school, disappears without a trace, no one suspects that her best friends Georgina Shaw and Kaiser Brody have something to do with it. Fast forward 14 years, the secret starts to decay when Angela's remains are discovered. The Official Swiss Charts and Music Community: Awards (Christina Perri; 'Jar of Hearts ')". IFPI Switzerland. The detective took out his handcuffs. The sight of them made her wince. Geo already has hers unwrapped. She takes a giant bite, the grease from the ground beef dribbling onto the front of her designer dress. She doesn’t care. Is this allowed? Geo knew what was coming. She wanted to warn her best friend – to ask her to stop screaming at Calvin because she knew the monster within. Angela went on with her rage when Calvin suddenly punched her in the face. Angela made a run for the door but Calvin caught up with her and with the use of his belt, he strangled Angela to death. Geo could not believe what was happening. All she could remember was Calvin asking her to help him with Angela’s body. Her thoughts were scattered but her mind was suddenly alerted to the situation. She directed Calvin to the woods near her house where they buried the body. The past is always with you, whether you choose to think about it or not, whether you take responsibility for it or not. Your carry the past with you because it transforms you. You can try to bury it and pretend it never happened, but that doesn’t work.

Not anymore, Kaiser says, then sighs. I finally have closure. I can now let it go. I’d advise you to do to the same. You kept that secret a long time. Fourteen years… I can’t imagine what that did to you. It’s a punishment all its own. This book was all kinds of messed up, and I loved it. I'm not sure what it says about me that I like all kinds of gratuitous nasty in my thrillers. Could it be that I have become so desensitized to violence, gore, and all other forms of disturbing nature that I have to keep "one upping" my reads? Possibly. Deep down, I feel like the gritty, explicit thrillers make me ponder the unsettling aspects of life more. When a book talks about some of the darkest violence you can imagine, it makes me think about instances in real life that have occurred in a similar manner, and I start to wonder about the motives behind such monstrous and cruel behavior. Weird? Totally, but there you have it.

About Jennifer

Easy.” He takes a seat beside her on the cold steel bench. “There’s two burgers in there. One’s for me.”

Georgina (Geo) Shaw was your average 16-year-old, high-school cheerleader. She was popular, smart and a good girl. Her best friend was the “it-girl” of St. Martins private school, Angela Wong. Angela shined brighter and bolder than Geo, than anyone at their high-school, and she knew it. Their relationship was fraught with jealousies and competition but they loved each other more than anything else in the world. How far will someone go to bury her secrets and hide her grief? How long can you get away with a lie? How long can you live with it? Geo sits alone in the cell, immersed in her thoughts. The past, present, and future all mingle together, the inner voices chattering alongside the actual voices of the police officers down the hallway. She can hear them discussing last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, and wonders randomly if they’ll show Grey’s Anatomy in prison. She has no idea how much time has passed until a shadow appears on the other side of the cell bars.

We’ve had a romance with serial killers since Ted Bundy came along looking like he needed a hug instead of the electric chair. Personally, I’m against capital punishment for many reasons—most of which you don’t give a tinker’s damn about—but death is too easy. Living is hard. Even when you’re a supposed “psychopath,” which writers have latched onto with glee as the new serial killer boogeyman in our midst. But there are still entertaining tales to tell about the victims, as Laura Lippman showed masterfully in I’d Know You Anywhere. And now, Jennifer Hillier does the same—but very, very different—with her thriller Jar of Hearts. If you’re looking for a flawless, innocent hero or heroine to empathize with their stories you chose the wrong book because even the victims are not so innocent at this mind blowing journey. Keep your eyes open not to be fooled because nothing as it seems. The worst monster could be prey, hiding a lamb’s heart inside his/her chest and hypothetically naive ones could be the real violent monsters. You see what you want to see! In July 2011, Fitzy and Wippa, from the Australian radio station Nova 96.9 made a parody of the song called "Jar of Hoons". [74] years ago, Angela Wong was murdered. Her remains have been recently discovered, along with evidence pointing to her best friend, Georgina Shaw. Georgina is sentenced to 5 years in prison for her role in Angela’s murder. Bits and pieces of the how and the why behind Angela’s murder are slowly revealed, along with buried secrets and lies. Georgina's point of view adds a layer of depth to this novel.
