I can be quite harsh when it comes to the details of medicine and the medical profession in a fictional book. But, in this case, I was able to suspend some disbelief and go with the story of a stalker physician. On his way to work he is rushing through traffic as he’s running late and nearly hits a blonde woman who is out running. When he sees her his world stops as she looks just like Lynette, his first love. I’ve read lots of books that feature stalkers in all shapes sizes and forms but Marcus is truly one of the most ‘weaselly’ of characters, petulant, childish, whiney, self centred and arrogant Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is brought on to the case and grows suspicious when the one friend who wasn’t out celebrating refuses to collaborate on the case. All of a sudden, a motive surfaces, and Michael’s near accident may not be so accidental after all. In Looking Good Dead, published in 2006, Tom Bryce finds an apparently lost cd and decides to try to return it to its owner.
