About this deal

The local screwpine makes an appearance in the pandan pannacotta served with gula anau and sesame brittle. The first bite is powerful as the natural flavours of the herb fill the mouth. Eaten together with the crisp brittle, it is nicely balanced and the large portion means not a soul leaves hungry. A choice of coffee or tea revives us somewhat in preparation for the drive home as does a stroll around the farm. Pandan Pannacotta – Day Trip from Kuala Lumpur Tea and Coffee

Meals take place in two dining areas lit by natural light (the Dining Room and the Farmhouse) with different menus to choose from; a little customisation is possible as well. For private functions, the Dining Room fits 20 people; the Farmhouse is designed for bigger events and can hold a maximum of 60 people. With an open-concept design that features lots of wood, glass and steel, these buildings designed by Lisa complement the suroundings, highlighting panoramic views of the farm and the surrounding hills – it’s hard not to fall in love with the space. This particular feast was priced at RM280 per adult and RM170 per child 12 years old and under. Communal lunches are held on some public holidays and on the first Sunday of every month, the next one being October 7th. Seats are limited to 48 guests so it’s best to get on their mailing list and make a reservation early. A Wander Around The Farm Helps Digest

Hill farming or terrace farming is an extensive farming in upland areas, primarily rearing sheep, although historically cattle were often reared extensively in upland areas. Fell farming is the farming of fells, a fell being an area of uncultivated high ground used as common grazing. It is a term commonly used in Northern England, especially in the Lake District and the Pennine Dales. Elsewhere, the terms hill farming or pastoral farming are more commonly used. I loved how Nell slotted into life in Crete with Kostas, Maria and Mitera who own the honey farm on the hill. Learning about the properties of various herbs and spices and the general way life in rural Crete was eye opening and made me really long to be a part of life in Vounaplagia. Nell having been a mother for 18 years, is slowly trying to rediscover who she is, while her daughter has an adventure in London.

The old kilns and PotteriesofStoke on Trent are a great option on a rainy day, and thebrilliant Monkey Forest at Trentham Gardens comes highly recommended as a great day out for both children and adults. Opportunities for farmers to supplement their farm income by working in industries such as quarrying or mining are largely no longer available. [5] The financial burden has taken a toll on many hill farmers, causing them to exhibit signs of mental health issues. [9] Many hill farmers are forced to generate supplemental income outside their farms or to take out loans. [9] Because of these economic factors, there is little incentive for younger generations to continue on with the hill farming. [5] Problems [ edit ] Ah, I'm a real winner this year when it comes to great books set in Greece! Jo Thomas's "The Honey Farm on the Hill" is another novel this summer that happens on a beautiful, sunny Corfu, and even though it's not as full of Greek traditions for example, it is still full to brims with the gorgeous Greek spirit, myths, delicious food and beautiful descriptions - Jo Thomas has really written a beautiful, atmospheric novel, not forgetting to add some mystery, budding romance and bees. Prior to this, the duo had no farming experience; Pete says they’re farmers who learned everything from the internet. ‘We had to learn from Google; how to grow this and how to grow that. We’ve been city people all our lives. We didn’t even grow potted plants.’ It’s constant trial and error with the planting and the nurturing, and both Pete and Lisa are still learning about the land. ‘At my guess, right now we’re only at 50 percent of what we can produce. It’s been three years of trying and Googling,’ says Pete.
