About this deal

Ready to pitch with pre-cut guy lines and tensioners attached to fly, and extra stability with velcro tabs that connect fly to pole structure Finally, on Big Agnes in particular, they are good at minimizing the weight of the footprint so if you buy a tent from their ultralight range then you get an ultralight footprint - not all brands seem to understand the importance of this. Solution-dyed fabric is highly resistant to UV fade and drastically reduces energy consumption and water use during manufacturing, a process that is better for the environment and improves the quality of the tent fabric

Fly material: fly (15d) and floor (20d) are silicone-treated ripstop nylon with 1200 mm waterproof polyurethane coating Includes NEW lighter, yet stronger Dirt Dagger UL Tent Stakes with patent pending I-Beam aluminum construction You can still buy the original version in the UK, but the newer, more eco-friendly version has clear benefits in the manufacturing process. There is a 50% reduction in the water required (nearly 5 gallons of water saved per tent produced), an 80% reduction in energy use (thus significantly reducing carbon emissions) and a further 80% reduction in the use of chemicals (for a cleaner, safer dyeing and finishing process). Impressive stuff – well done Big Agnes. Tester’s Verdict Big Agnes is the first to introduce solution-dyed tent body and fly fabrics to the equipment category. The result is better for the environment and the high UV resistance of the solution-dyed fabrics improves the quality of our tents. Improving already great tents isn’t easy, choosing to lessen the environmental impact while doing so is. The updated Tiger Wall UL SD features solution-dyed fabrics that improve the quality of the tent fabric to deliver greater UV resistance while drastically reducing energy consumption and water usage at the point of production for a cleaner, greener design. Seams are taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape while both flysheet and floor feature a silicone-treated nylon ripstop with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating for premium wet weather protection.

Most manufacturers recommend the use of a footprint to extend the life of the groundsheet of your tent, but if you've just bought an ultralight tent do you really want to carry the extra weight associated with it? And if you always need a footprint then why don't the manufacturers just beef up the floor fabric? Big Agnes' Fly Creek HV UL1 Solution Dye Tent has had a serious overhaul. A key feature being rolled out across a number of Big Agnes tents is the use of solution dyed fabrics. This is a great move for a number of reasons, firstly the positive environmental impacts which see a significant reduction in both energy and water consumption during manufacture. Secondly, this process means the tents are much more resistant to colour fade from UV. On a practical level, the tent benefits from a slight change in the pole design which now provides steeper walls, more headroom and a wider door opening which all make this version feel much more spacious and more usable.

The floor is made with 20 denier fabric and given how light the fabric is, I’d recommend using the tent with a footprint. Big Agnes sells a Tiger Wall UL3 footprint, but I use a much less expensive piece of Tyvek. SectionHiker also recommends window insulation wrap for this purpose, which is even lighter weight but less durable. The guy-lines are fixed length which makes can make it hard to find a suitable stake out point There are very few lightweight three-person tents that come close to the Tiger Wall UL3 in weight and price. Make / ModelProprietary ultralight nylon double rip-stop, mixed denier fabric offers extra tear-strength and puncture resistance without adding weight Smooth-closing, dual-zipper door with easy-grip zipper pulls on two doors and two awning-style vestibules (UL2/3) with storm flaps on the vestibule zippers Big Agnes' Tiger Wall UL2 Solution Dye Tent has had a welcome update. For a two man tent weighing 904g, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that you might sacrifice on durability. The tent has a 15- denier floor and rainfly, which is extremely thin and should be treated with care - and used with a footprint on most occasions to extend its lifespan.

Dry, dirt-free changing and gear storage with extended footprint creates a vestibule floor, sold separatelySolution-dyed fabric is highly resistant to UV fade & reduces energy consumption & water use during manufacture Joining our award winning Platinum line of Crazylight tents, the Tiger Wall Platinum offers two doors and two vestibules for fast and light trial missions where every inch of space counts. Tent body: breathable proprietary ultralight double ripstop mixed denier nylon, with solution-dyed ripstop grid and polyester mesh Increased airflow with low vent feature on the vestibule doors and double sliders on the vestibule zippers for venting from the top or bottom I used to exclusively use single hoop tents for my solo, ultralight adventures – two-skin tents like the Terra Nova Laser Competition and Nordisk Telemark 1 ULW – but now I’ve completely switched to a different style. Why? Because the tapered walls of single hoop tents make the coffin-like interior too cramped, and condensation can be very difficult to avoid.

This one person tent features a cleverly-designed, hub-connected, all-in-one skeletal pole, which forms the main structure. A smaller transverse pole then slots across the apex of this structure stretching out the peak to maximise headroom. The inner, which is pitched first, clips tightly to this skeletal pole – and the result is a shelter with near-vertical walls and maximum head and elbow room. A decent-sized side porch and minimally-tapered floor add to the sense of spaciousness. Easy to pitch any time of day with reflective guylines and color-coded webbing on tent corners, extra stability with velcro tabs that connect fly to pole structure, and ready to pitch with pre-cut guylines and tensioners attached to fly The Tiger Wall UL 3 is a double-wall semi-freestanding tent with an inner mesh tent that is suspended from a three-pronged overhead dome-shaped pole-structure. While the corners of the foot end still need to be staked out for maximum livability, setting up a tent like this is very easy since it won’t fall over before you can get your tent stakes in. The rainfly simply drapes over the dome-shaped pole structure, so air can circulate between the inner and outer tent. The only downside is that the interior can get wet if it’s raining when you erect the inner tent, but carrying a small trail towel is sufficient to mop up any rain that gets through. The inner tent is suspended from a dome shape pole structureFly and floor: solution-dyed water-repellent silicone treated nylon ripstop with a 1200mm water-resistant, polyurethane coating Stash oversized gear in 3D shelf, utilizing dead space above your feet or securely store helmet on top of tent body with elastic webbing and use daisy-chain webbing loops on the fly exterior to dry wet clothes and gear
