About this deal

I did try one more time to see if I could get this frame app to function for me. I put my Android phone on WiFi Hotspot and tried to connect it. The frame app could not detect that signal and would not allow me to login. High resolution: Now that even most smartphone cameras can shoot at least 10-megapixel images, it doesn’t make sense to consider anything below a 1080p display (a measly 2 megapixels). We considered frames with up to 2K, or 2048p, resolution, but ultimately we don’t think most people need that many pixels in a photo frame. (And most wouldn’t like the price tag that comes with it.) Still, we cover a few good 2K options in Other good digital photo frames. We place each digital photo frame in a series of similar viewing scenarios to assess the sharpness and brightness of its display. This will usually include a dark environment, a daylit room and a bright spot in direct sunlight. Using an identical set of photos, we look at the accuracy of color reproduction, the clarity of each image and the viewing angles of the frame. We also take into account the proportions of the display and whether any cropping is likely to affect standard-sized digital images. You want an always-on display: The Portal will sleep if it doesn’t detect movement for an hour, and the setting can’t be changed. I ran into three problems in setup. First, it took over a half an hour and multiple attempts to get the app to find the device, even though I was right next to it. Second, once it did find it, I couldn't connect the frame to my WiFi. I found that the frame only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi protocols. My Eero Pro router is 5.0 GHz. Third, even when I put my Eero Pro in 2.4GHz Legacy Mode, the frame would not connect.

While the majority of features between the Carver Luxe and the Mason Luxe overlap, you’ll find differences in a preferred orientation, display resolution, and overall frame size. The frame itself is also not that impressive, it’s a modern look which some may like but I would’ve preferred maybe a wood veneer option. The frame is just hard plastic but to be fair you don’t really focus on it at all as the photo/screen quality is excellent and always the focal point. The connector is a big one. Instead of using USB-C or even microUSB, it opts for proprietary connector. Everyone has so many chargers and cables laying around this seems unnecessary. BUT the best part! Through the app, you can invite family members from ANYWHERE to upload photos from their location and the pictures will display on the frame! Think about grandma being able to see new pictures from her children and grandchildren on the frame! They could constantly be changing and updating family photos! I am already planning to get another frame for my 84-year-old mother so that my brothers and their families who live across the US can upload pictures for her and share what's happening in their lives. Digital photo frames are available in a wide range of sizes. Which dimension is right for you will depend on your available space, as well as your own personal preference. Smaller digital photo frames are more compact and easier to place in your home, but offer less canvas space for your digital images. Larger photo frames give your treasured snaps room to shine, but require a larger footprint – and the biggest screens risk dominating a room. After getting one of these for a grandparent for their birthday, my wife had to have one! This is probably the easiest wifi sharing frame/app that I have had experience with. I have some friends who have different ones and after setting this up, I think this is the most simple and the features are very functional and easy. I really appreciate the potential that product has. We have a number of hard drives that store the pictures that we have taken over the years. Its cumbersome to look at the sheer number of pictures.

These experts will further list some great options that will not only match your budget but will also bring more features to your setup. On the other hand, if you’re aiming for a more compact frame with phenomenal clarity, then going with Mason Luxe is the better idea. From incredible audio output to simple manipulation of the videos, you’ll be able to enjoy a comprehensive range of utility options. The frame itself has an interesting and unique feel to it. Almost like a clay molding where the surface of the frame is mildly rough, like 400 grit sandpaper. Along the edge of the frame there’s a series of groves that add to it’s uniqueness.

The frame stands in landscape only, with no portrait display option. Instead, it displays portrait photos side by side.

The overall frame offered by the Aura Mason might not be as robust. Still, the responsiveness and the interactive touch response offered by this system are far superior to any other option on the market. Overall, Carver Luxe has a larger display, a better aspect ratio for landscape mode, and a cheaper price tag. Other than that, you will also get support for portrait photo pairing in landscape mode. Whether you want to display a slideshow of family portraits, vacation snaps or your own photography, you’ll find a fitting option in the list below. Our guide spans a wide variety of frames, ranging from simple models to high-end frames with features to match. Some function as smart hubs, too.The features are still pretty great, you will get a larger frame, and the design is sleek. It all comes down to your budget and preferences. Finally, Pix-Star’s web album feature makes them arguably the best frame for families in 2022. Here you can import photos directly from a dozen external sources to your Pix-Star’s internal storage. They’re available offline and can be included in slideshows remotely. You’ll be paying around a hundred dollars more for this system, but that investment is more than justified for your setup. It all comes down to what you’re looking for in a smart frame, and both of these options bring decent features.

At 1280x800, the resolution of the touchscreen could be higher, but we found that there’s still good detail with no noticeable pixellation – and it makes controlling the Nest Hub Max a cinch. Swipe between photos or tap the pop-up controls to hide, star or share particular images, or do the same thing with voice commands. You’ll find many owners growing the Carver Luxe over the Mason Luxe, even if they are not worried about the budget. also, its convenient to add members to the frame account so anyone can add pictures from their devices. you don't need one central device. Frame Material. Last but not least, the frame material is weird. The texture is like embossed charcoal or a textured chalkboard. It is okay to look at, but I don't like the way it feels. I am assuming "gravel" was meant to describe something, but it certainly didn't look, color, or texture. This frame also has the ability to play sound and videos which is somewhat interesting, although videos seem to play at around 10fps. On the other hand, if you’re aiming for a more affordable unit that offers a larger frame, then going with Carver Luxe is the better idea. When you’re looking for premium quality digital frames, Aura Mason Luxe and Carver Luxe will always be in the conversation. One of our favorite things about this frame is how straightforward it is to load photos using the app. You can create playlists using photos from your smartphone, or sync with Google Photos to display AI-generated smart albums. You can also connect with friends to easily add their snaps to your frame.
