About this deal

An 'All About Me' topic is the perfect way for children to get to know the rest of their class. These We Are All Different Discussion Cards are a fantastic way to get the topic started, alongside the Twinkl Originals book, 'We Are All Different'.

One of the most important lessons to learn as a child is to embrace and celebrate our differences. Fostering a general atmosphere of kindness in your classroom not only helps children improve their social skills but also sets them up fantastically for the rest of their lives. Teaching children to be proud of their differences, whilst also being respectful towards others, can hopefully inspire them to be positive and kind people when they grow older. To learn about the lifecycle of a caterpillar, try The Cautious Caterpillar. It's great for a minibeasts topic and can inspire interest in the natural world. Ask pupils to spend a few moments thinking about the ways in which they are different from the people next to them. Do they look different? Do they like different things? Do they have different strengths and weaknesses? Can you think of a friend that has been able to teach you something new, because they come from a different place or speak a different language? Some may not want to get married because they’ve seen how dysfunctional their parents’ marriage was. They don’t want that to get repeated for themselves. Follow one brave koala with two daddies as she sets out on a mission to make every family feel included in Part of the Party.

There's a full range of additional resources available to support this story too which have all been written by teachers and designed to be used in the classroom. You could use this we are all different PowerPoint with your learners to start a conversation in your classroom. See who likes and dislikes certain things. Your learners can learn all about their classmates and the ways they all differ, and the ways they are similar too. This collection of Circle Time Activity Ideas have been put together by our dedicated team of in-house teachers with the aim of supporting your planning and your students’ learning. As the resource has been created by expert teachers, you can feel confident knowing that circle time activities are tried and tested.Video animations like this one are brilliant for introducing your class to new topics, as they can make them much easier to understand. It can be difficult for children to stay focused when receiving a lot of new information in the classroom, so introducing that information through an engaging video can really help the learning process. Our evolved behaviours, that make us all the same, result from the ever-present genetic nudges nudging us to reproduce. We don’t have a choice to stop these nudges. Each Twinkl Originals story comes with a collection of teaching resources to inspire cross-curricular learning. You can also join Twinkl's own children's book club (UK only) to have a printed book delivered to your door every half-term.

When we get a new phone, it has default factory settings. People customize the settings according to their own needs and preferences. In this resource, you’ll find a beautifully illustrated PowerPoint with each slide depicting different areas where people can be different. The slides cover different types of hair, different coloured skin, the different people we might live with, and the different things we all like or dislike. The three sheets provide more or less support to help or challenge learners as required. This activity would be great for the start of the year or during an 'All About Me' topic.

An important part of ensuring your classroom is an inclusive, positive learning space is teaching your children about the importance of diversity, and how we're all unique in different ways. You can use this banner to emphasise the key elements of the topic, and to make your classroom display or role-play area that bit more lovely! This one in particular is great for starting to design your very own diversity display board. How can I create a diversity display board using this resource? Why not use this we are all different PowerPoint alongside the All About Me Storybooks here at Twinkl? This resource complements those books and their ethos. These resources help to teach young children about inclusion, diversity, and all the different ways to be. This Being Kind To Yourself Worksheet helps children to think of some thoughtful ways that they can treat themselves with kindness, and would act as a great lesson starter activity.

If you want to feel happy, you gotta stop following the crowd – and instead listen to your heart – and make life choices which celebrate being uniquely you!
