About this deal

This is the busiest station of the system, with more than 2.5 million passengers each year. It is located on the street with the same name, known for its shops and commerce. It offers a connection to the Queen Street train station. This station serves the Woodland, Woodside, and Hillhead districts. Along with Hillhead, it is one of the northernmost stations of the metro. Crossrail Glasgow proposals [40] by Glasgow City Council featured a feasibility study conducted by SPT, which included a proposed new West Street railway station which would interface with the West Street station on the Subway network. Williams, Craig (9 February 2018). "The plans for 50 new Glasgow Subway stations and where they were going to be". glasgowlive. Archived from the original on 9 June 2020 . Retrieved 1 June 2020.

Inception and Opening: The Glasgow Subway, officially known as the Glasgow District Subway, was conceived as an underground transport system to alleviate traffic congestion in the city. It was designed by engineer James B. Leslie and opened to the public on December 14, 1896. A further interchange via moving walkway was installed between Buchanan Street station and Queen Street mainline station as part of the modernisation. A complete circle around the line takes about 24 minutes. At peak times, trains leave every four minutes, but this can be extended from 6 to 8 minutes if demand is low. Buchanan Street: Located in the heart of Glasgow's shopping district, Buchanan Street Station is a major interchange point for various bus services. It provides convenient access to Buchanan Galleries, Royal Concert Hall, and the bustling Buchanan Street itself.

Double height handrails are also in place which are non-reflective and not “cold to touch” to assist passengers with mobility impairment and also for children. West Street: West Street Station is situated near the Glasgow School of Art and the famous Sauchiehall Street. It serves as a gateway to the vibrant city center and is close to various restaurants, bars, and shops.

Prams and pushchairs should be folded in the Subway. Unfortunately, because of space restrictions, it is not possible to accommodate large prams and pushchairs. Staff may ask customers to fold prams/pushchairs if they are too big or the system is busy.

It is too important to be used as a promotional vehicle for corporations." We’ve reimagined the Glasgow Subway map as a Glasgow Pubway map revealing a picture of the city in all its different guises. People with mobility issues can read information about the number of stairs and escalators at each station.
