You don't have to choose now." His voice called out of the darkness, bouncing against The stone. "And you can refuse, no consequences. I promise." You can not die," she muttered, "not anymore, but you are no longer alive as your time has passed. Unless you wish to meet me, you must take from others what you cannot have yourself. And because you must take, I must curse. I curse you" she said, eyes twinkling. "with the strength of the moon and the speed of stars. I curse you with power and youth. You will not decay, you will not change, you will not settle. I Curse you with time, unending and unyielding, and worst of all I curse you with fear, fear for what you have refused from me. In your unbroken death, you will once again be powerless. I curse you," she finished peering into his hiding place as if she knew where he was; as if she wanted this curse to take place. "May this curse never be broken." 😳. My favorita.

This section will be short, because there isn't much to it. This is marketed as a vampire romance with a "cinnamon roll male lead" which let me tell you - boring is what he is - what they all are but I'll get to that later. Adorable! That's not necessarily what you would associate a vampire book with, but here we are. Aaron is such a golden retriever and I adore him and I need more male leads like him. This dark romantic fantasy has amazing characters, a true morally grey MMC, fierce enemies to lovers, forced proximity, witches, mages, and magical shifters referred to as transcendents. Going in I didn't realize this book was just part one, which is kind of important because this sets up A Lot. Especially the last couple chapters. Knowing that makes the pacing make a lot more sense though. Overall this was a very cute book and I look forward to the next one! This goes past just romance and has a very interesting story dealing with old power that I can't wait to see the progression of. I don't wanna say too much because spoilers but I do highly recommend this book and my only real complaint was that there was a fair amount of spelling errors. I'm gonna assume that's because it's an ARC though. As hostilities deepen and war draws near, Wren is determined to rein in her wild magic and bind it to her will. With the lives of everyone she loves at stake, Wren must look within and decide if she is the monster she fears, or if there is light to be found in the darkest parts of herself.

Whispers of the carnage traveled far and wide, describing the bodies drained, eyes glassy and dull. They spoke of the blood decorating the walls and streets and how no one had been spared, not even the children. They whispered of the man who had emerged, blood dripping from his mouth and staining his clothes and his claws and his teeth, eyes red. They called him the angel of Death. However I am in distraught over the way this book has ended and I need that third book like I need air. I need answers, I need happiness, I need something.I really enjoyed this sequel. It has some of my favorite tropes (enemies-to-lovers, slow burn, pretend plaything) and I loved Nadir. her heartbeat was identifiable, thundering. it was beautiful music to my ears. the best sound in the entire world.” Will Wren find her sister? Will she be able to control her blood magic? Will Wren and Sin end up together? Hello! This was read as an ARC—thank you so much for this opportunity to review this as is was one of my most anticipated reads this year and it truly did not disappoint! I believe this is spoiler free just vibes so here we go 😊😊

We meet some really incredible new characters in this book (you can just be prepared to love Skylar the most), and there is constant action in this—I never felt like a scene was there for pure fluff it was really all impactful for the plot. Philza walked the earth for another millennium before he got tired of doing it alone. There were whispers, of course, of other things like him out in the world, lingering in the shadows and preying on the weak, but he paid them little mind. They were young, feral, cursed for some crime, unlike him. He had been given a gift, a second chance. It had just taken a while to see it.

All of this makes me excited to continue to read the series and to watch how the author grows in her writing.
